STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Subramanian Anand
A fascination for Science & Technology and keen interest in the ever-growing world of technology motivated me to take up engineering. I choose to major in Electrical& Electronic
Engineering with an intense urge to delve into the challenging field. During my under graduation program I learned the various fundamentals of Electrical & Electronics Engineering which together with the laboratory course work, further reinforced my interest.
Right from my school, I had a penchant towards Mathematics, Science and research in general.
This basic interest led me to take up Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as my major subjects in high school. As a part of my Physics project, I had constructed logic gates and simple latches using basic circuit elements. I was very much astounded by the way Electrical and
Electronics transforms our lives and this peaked my interest for pursuing Electrical & Electronic
Engineering. I would like to present my past performance as my credentials for my success in my future endeavors. My innate strength has been my quantitative and analytical abilities, which instilled in me a special interest for mathematical and physics. I had opted for the same at the pre-university level and passed out with flying colors. I was placed in the top 15% among the 100,,000 students who attempted the state level engineering entrance examination. This stupendous performance helped me gain admission into MRIET, a top notch engineering college in Andhra Pradesh.
During the course of my undergraduate study, I was exposed to various courses with practical applications such as: Electromagnetic field, Control systems, Power electronic, Electrical measurements, Linear Integrated Circuits, Electronics, Pulse and digital circuits, Computer methods in power system control, Digital Signal Processing, Power systems (1to 3), Electrical
Machines (1 to 3), High voltage engineering, Modeling of power system components,

Academics serve as the basis for growth in my career goals. I enjoy and excel in mathematics and science classes, but I hoped to select a field of study in college that also embodies my creative pursuits. For years, I separated my logical and creative passions, never considering that they could combine. Engineering arose as the perfect solution to…

I can still vividly recall the eleven-year-old me fawning over the likes of Lawrence Krauss and Neil Degrasse Tyson. I was completely immersed in everything and anything pertaining to the vast universe beyond our seemingly insignificant world. I thought I had it all figured out. I would devote my life to being an astrophysicist and eventually earn my PhD. I would relish in the pink lettering on my wall that said “Dr. Mia”, but as I approach my late teens, my mind has been bombarded with what-ifs and buts. Irrespective of my change of heart, I still have an intense passion for math and science since it is how we explain the world around us, and that is why I have settled on biomedical engineering.…

I was introduced to the field I am interested in from my 9th grade biology class. Prior to the course, I had never taken biology or any science, for that matter, that had captured my attention such as this year-long experience. I was intrigued by the subject and fascinated with all the advances in society that have been made by scientists throughout the years. The possibility of being able to do this in the future kept me engaged and I further pursued this interest by currently taking AP Biology. In addition, I was inspired by the change that scientists can make through research and…

I have been interested in science and math since I was reading books with science experiments in second grade. Applying math and science skills to solve everyday problems has intrigued me from an early age. I am always curious about how things work. Since taking AP Physics this year, I have been able to appreciate how math and science work together. I have taken other rigorous courses, but often it felt like learning math was isolated from other coursework. Math challenges me to problem solve and think at a higher level. I also love science, but until I took AP Physics my science classes were too easy. The labs in freshmen and sophomore science were enjoyable, but I never got a sense of how they connected to other concepts in Biology and Chemistry.…

When asked in class every year which subject I admired the most, my answer was always “none”. Although the grades in my core curriculum classes were always excellent, I never found interest in the basic subjects. Math was a bunch of numbers with letters, science just reviewed our bodies and the how the world was believed to be through one scientist theories and history repeated itself, constantly. As a freshman, I contemplated tremendously over what major and career I would pursue for the rest of my life. I never knew there were more subjects than just science, English, math and history until the day my mother introduced me to unraveling my creativity in the summer.…

For as long as I can remember, I was interested in math and science. Math comes naturally to me—I enjoy the consistency that goes with it and completing each challenging problem. Similarly, I can never get enough of science, especially marine biology. Of all my subjects, science is the one I pursue most frequently outside of school; however, I always wanted something more. I was introduced to programming in my AP computer science class, and from the first day, I knew it was for me. Computer science is an excellent amalgamation of the math and science I love, embedded with the perfect amount of logic. I have enjoyed every second of my computer science class and, no matter what, hope to continue the field in the future.…

In high school biology, chemistry, and math were always the easiest and most interesting subjects to me. My sophomore year I maintained 102% average in my biology class, my teacher, Mrs. Backer, was very impressed and suggested I take AP biology and her forensics class. So my junior year I took the forensics class and I was hooked! I was constantly trying to work ahead or get more out of my teacher. I wanted to know everything and do everything in that class. I had never been so into a class before, I wouldn’t miss a day in that class for anything. That class was what set my career choice in stone;…
