By: Hope Rosselot The Rainforest of Atsinanana is 4, 769 km2 long. It was inscribed in 2007. There are six national parks which make up this rainforest. They are: Marojejy, Masaola, Zahamena, Ranomafana, Andringitra and Andohahel. It is located on the eastern end of Madagascar. There are many different species of plants and animals located here. The national parks found here are very strict about the wildlife, fish, and plant species. The diversity of life forms this rainforest is widely spread out. There are many species of animals and plants spread out through this rainforest. I have a few examples of the diversity of the life forms in this rainforest. One example would be the Tenrecs. These are insect eaters. Some are spiny, while others are furry. They either look like moles or hedgehogs. There is also the mongoose, looks like a fox. They are carnivores, and they hunt their pray days and nights. When mongoose mates they produce a high pitched noise. This noise sounds almost like a giggle. Another example is the 5 different families of the lemur. The 5 different families are the: mouse and dwarf, weasel or sportive, true lemurs, and they aye-aye lemurs. The aye-aye lemur is in a class of its own. They communicate through sound, site, and smell. They are normally entertained by monkeys, squirrels, and woodpeckers. My final example of a life form is the Gecko. These are very small and fast animals. They can climb smooth and vertical surfaces. They have no eyelids. They have a transparent membrane, which they like to lick clean. They are the most photos genic, and there are 4 different colors of them found in the rainforest. The biological interrelationships among the life forms in the area are the variety of genetic materials within a species, the variety of species within an ecosystem, and the variety of ecosystems within a region. The variety of genetic materials within a species varies. There are a lot of animals in the
