January 2014
INTRODUCTION
At this point of time, in this age of technology, we tend to keep on using products, materials and inventions which come from non-renewable sources such as oil, petroleum, fuel, natural gas, etc. Just like in cooking, we need heat to cook the food, and to have that heat, we need a tank of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). But the problem is, LPG comes from a non-renewable source, therefore, there’ll be a point of time that these non-renewable sources will someday become scarce to a point that it will totally be in short supply and will no more be available for future needs. The best solution for that is making a solar cooker. All we need is the energy from the sun and some other tools for this great product to be of great use, work, and help.
The target of this project is to develop this model of solar cooker that have the power and efficiency of the parabolic cookers, with the folding and cargo capacity of the panel cookers.

PROBLEM
Is it possible to make a solar cooker portable with less expense of money?
Does this solar cooker have the characteristics of light weight, efficiency and stability?

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The significance of the study is to produce a solar cooker that is portable and efficient in cooking foods. People can benefit this product because of its portability which can be brought anytime and anywhere. By using this product, people can save electricity and LPG and can also help the environment.

SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS
This study focuses on making a portable solar cooker that can be handy and the effectiveness on cooking foods. The materials and appearance of the said product are not included on the study.

HYPOTHESIS
Yes it is possible to make a

Despite what any individual’s concerns are regarding energy, it has been generally accepted that the finite source generating the majority of our electricity is depleting at alarming rates. We need to find alternative sources for energy production. The most obvious and abundant source available is the sun. Advances in technology have enabled us to harvest the solar radiation which has been conducting the cycle of life for millions of years. There are two main categories when it comes to solar power, passive and active. The passive solar systems integrate the sun’s energy to heat living spaces and/or water in a building. These system are very simple consisting few moving parts, require negligible maintenance and no mechanical components (Passive Solar Design). Passive…

According to records, human use of solar energy has 3,000 years of history. Solar power as an energy source and make use of only 300 years of history. Real solar as "the recent much-needed additional energy," "the basis for the future energy mix," is a recent thing. Since the 70s of the 20th century, solar energy technology advances, solar energy with each passing day. The history of modern solar energy engineer from France Solomon and Germany 1615 Cox invented the world 's first solar-powered engines counting. The invention is a use of solar energy for heating the air to expand power and water pumping machines. In the years between 1615 to 1900, the world has developed into more than one solar power plant and some other solar devices. Almost all of these power plants collect the sun by concentrating mode, engine power is not, working fluid is mainly water vapor, expensive, little practical value, the majority of personal research and manufacturing of solar enthusiasts. 100 years of the 20th century, the history of solar energy technology can be generally divided into seven phases, the following description separately.…

Today nearly half of the world’s energy is provided by petroleum. What began as a cheap and abundant way to provide energy, has become expensive, environmentally harmful, and finite. With population explosions and the demands of modern lifestyles, the world’s need for energy production has become far too much for fossil fuels to keep up with. Experts say that the Earth’s stores of petroleum will be depleted by 2050. The need to find a viable source of energy within this generation’s lifetime that can power cars and provide electricity to homes. Some of the alternative energy sources include: wind energy, nuclear energy, and solar energy. Of the three, only solar is capable of producing enough energy to power the world. Solar energy producers fall into two separate categories: thermal solar collectors and photovoltaic panels. Thermal solar energy collectors are “a source of hot water that can be used for heating or for making steam to generate electricity” (Nersesian 2007). They are the simpler of the two types and much more inexpensive. They have many practical applications such as pool warmers and water heaters. Photovoltaic panels convert solar energy directly into electricity. They are large and the technology is still fairly expensive. Solar energy is a viable option to replace fossil fuels because it is the most financially viable long term, is a renewable resource that will not harm the environment, and each system can operate independently.…

Please accept the accompanying Work Term Report, aimed designing a toasting oven in order to produce corn flakes. In the designed system 10 tons corn flakes per day is produced. After some processes, corn flakes enters the roasting oven at 20% humidity and exits at 4%humidity.The roasting oven can operate at (±10 ºC) 225 0C.Toasting oven is designed by considering its length, area and operating temperature. Optimizations are done according to these factors on the cost of the total design. In the design system, rotary drum drier is used.350 days of the year plant works and production occurs 16 hours in a day. Corn flakes enter the oven at 225 0C .Amount of air is calculated as 0,648 kg dry air/s .Length of the drier is calculated as 2.27 m. in the result of optimizations done according to proper drying time and dryer diameter. Heat energy needed to raise the inlet temperature of air to 225 0C, is found as 157kw and heat loss is found as 23.6kw.Through these data, total investment which contains dryer cost and electricity cost is found as 92794.98TL.…

“I’d put my money on the sun and solar energy,” stated Thomas Edison. Many people, including Thomas Edison, understood the value of solar energy. The use of solar energy has dated back to 700 B.C. Expenses for solar energy products are exceedingly high. Maintenance of solar powered utilities is virtually nonexistent. Solar products tend to be efficient in their work to make a clean planet. The function of a solar panel is to transform light into electricity. Solar panels can be used to power several different pieces of equipment. Solar energy can help reduce pollutants and create a healthy environment for everyone to live in.…
