SS essay
One of the most important skills you must learn in order to succeed in a history classroom is the art of essay writing. Writing an essay is one of the most common tasks assigned to a history student, and often one of the most daunting. However, once you gain the skills and confidence to write a great essay it can also be one of the most fun assignments you have. Essays allow you to engage with the material you have studied and draw your own conclusions. A good essay shows that you have mastered the material at hand and that you are able to engage with it in a new and meaningful way. The most important thing to remember when writing an analytical essay is that it calls for you to analyze something. That is to say your essay should have a challengeable argument. An argument is a statement which people can disagree about. The goal of your essay is to persuade the reader to support your argument. The best essays will be those which take a strong stance on a topic, and use evidence to support that stance. You should be able to condense your strong stance into one or two concrete sentences called your thesis statement. The thesis of your essay should clearly lay out what you will be arguing for in your essay. Again, a good thesis statement will present your challengeable argument – the thing you are trying to prove.Bad Thesis Statement: Johannes Kepler was an important figure in the Scientific Revolution.Good Thesis Statement: Johannes Kepler’s mathematical evidence supporting the heliocentric model of the universe was instrumental in progressing the scientific revolution because it legitimized the need for scientists to question authority, gave scientists the tools to begin mapping out the universe, and it laid the groundwork for the level of mathematical precision called for in the scientific method. As you can see the first thesis statement is not a challengeable argument. The fact that Johannes Kepler was an important figure is not disputed, and an essay to prove

Recall that there are two important keys to writing a humanities essay that we have not yet encountered in this class. First, straightforward arguments are usually uninteresting. Second, close reading of the text and construction of an argument that is consistent with the entirety of the text is at the core of humanities writing. Ground interesting arguments in specific passages of the text that you quote for the reader. These two criterion will receive special focus when your essay is graded.…

If you own and operate a business, you may be required to obtain a Federal Employer Identification Number (EIN) and should consider doing so even if not required. Commonly referred to as a federal tax ID number, an EIN is like a social security number for your business. Just as your social security number is used to identify you as a unique individual by government, financial and other institutions, an employer identification number is used to identify a business as a unique entity by government, financial, tax and regulatory agencies. Obtaining and using an EIN to identify your business to the Internal Revenue Service and the various federal agencies that regulate businesses is a smart way to separate and differentiate between your personal and business obligations and liabilities.…

Starting with what others are saying “they say…” the most important thing of writing is to not only specify your thesis is, but what the larger picture that the thesis is implying to. After reading chapter one “They Say” Starting with What Others Are Saying, I understood the meaning of order in a passage and how to write a well-written passage. You must engage in the audience, the writer needs to explain what they are replying to. If you become unsuccessful in doing this, you lose the readers train of thought. The readers mind will soon wonder aimlessly on something else and not in your essay. Creating an essay with an argument, keeps the reader hooked and engaged in what you are saying. I learned that you should start off by stating what others say first, then engage with your idea last. Chapter two “Her Point Is” The Art of Summarizing, talks about writing a good…

    Social Safety Net Essay

It has been well documented that Social Safety Nets (SSN) have a significant and, in some cases, sizable effect on school enrollment and attendance of adolescent girls. Table 4 provides an overview of the evidence of the impact of SSNs on education of girls and women. Conditional cash transfers (CCT) have been effective in reducing the gender gap in those countries where school enrollment rates among girls were lower than among boys (100). School feeding (SFs) has also demonstrated some positive impacts on enrollment and attendance (101-105) as well as serving as a hunger reduction intervention. However, distance to school remains a barrier for improving school enrollment for girls. A reduction in the distance to the nearest secondary school by 1 km has an increased probability of 8.6% that girls attend school (106). However, the cost of building new schools in remote areas exceeds the cost of providing CCT. Comparing the cost-effectiveness of demand-oriented CCT with supply-oriented projects, CCT are a substantially more cost-effective alternative of increasing girls’ school enrollment (106).…
