Topic: What are some modern techniques being used to determine the age of the earth?
When it come to the earth, whether it be about its life, time created or life span you can assure there will be many different theories and beliefs. In this paper I will attempt to explain the defined theories that exist which explain the age of the earth. Many scientists believes that the earth has a life span it is aging and it will eventually die, while on the other hand religion believes that the earth was created by God or a higher power and that the only one who can destroy it is God and no matter what we as humans do we cannot destroy it.
When it comes to the earth and its creation and its life there are two sides to its story the religious side and the scientific side. To determine the age of the earth by scientific research you would resort to the school of geology which is the study of earth including its composition, structure, physical properties and history. And on the religious (for the purpose of this paper I will use Christianity as the religion of choice) side you would need to refer to the Bible more specifically the book of Genesis and the book of Mathew and the book of Revelations.
The big bang theory is a cosmological theory holding that the universe originated approximately 20 billion years ago from the violent explosion of a very small agglomeration of matter of extremely high density and temperature. This to me suggest that something existed before the universe because you cannot get something from nothing. The authors of the book “A Brief History of Time” Hawkins S.W states that since we only know what happens after the big bang we cannot include prior events in our theory of the earth, so we should accept the big gang theory as the beginning of time. (Hawkins, Mlodinow, Leonard, 2005).
It seems that when it comes to what techniques are used to determine the age of the earth scientists tends to

Annie Proulx's language and diction in the story is interesting. Instead of writing in complete sentences shes writes small phrases. Although the phrases and random words may sound confusing and out of place I think that they give a much more clear representation of the setting and the story. Instead of using long word sentences Proulx uses specific words that stand out in the reader's mind. It helps the reader picture everything easily and she really gets the point across with one concise and powerful word the words definitely helped convey the mood and tone that Proulx was trying to get across. For example when Proulx says” A great damp of loaf of a body. At six he weighed 80 pounds . At sixteen he was buried under a casement of flesh . Head shaped like a crenshaw, no neck, reddish hair ruched back. features as bunched as kissed fingertips. Eyes the color of plastic. The monstrous chin, a freakish shelf jutting from the lower face.”…

Many people today have their thoughts on how the Earth was created. Christians take a biblical perspective of how the universe was created by a creator. One thought that Christians believe is that God created the earth and accomplished this in six days and rested on the seventh day. This is the model of how a week is set up and the model that we currently follow. Jon W. Green states “though differences of opinion exist for various doctrinal issues within Christianity, few are more divisive than controversies surrounding the days of creation and the age of the Earth.” As stated previously many people have thoughts and are curious as to how the Earth itself came into existence. When it comes to the scientific community there are two major theories the old earth view and the young earth view. The two conflicting points of view vary in the idea of how long the it took to create the earth and how old the Earth is. Many creationist take the side of believing that the world was created in six twenty-four hours days and that the Earth itself is no more than 6,000 years old. Whereas those who believe in the old earth theories believe that the earth was formed over a longer period of time. There are two concepts of how these happened the Big bang theory and the six day creation theory. Each of these relates back to the age of the earth.…

The Ice Age began 2.4 million years ago. According to scientists, huge glaciers were the cause of how it all began. They believed that this ice movement was the cause of leaving the rocks in different formations, rock scrape marks, the valleys, etc. This was the theory that glaciation was the cause of the ice age and that this was the evidence that left a mark on the earth that it did indeed happen. Other evidence found would…

The Big Bang Theory is a show about adult nerds who happen to be prodigies at science. In every episode something enviably goes wrong, or a conflict arises. Five main characters makeup the core cast in the Big Bang Theory. These characters are Sheldon Cooper, Leonard Hofstadter, Howard Wolowitz, Rajesh Koothrappali, and Penny. The dynamics and interactions between these characters are what helped this show win an Emmy, GoldenGlobe, and consistently attract 16 million weekly viewers. The first season aired in 2007 and has been signed to keep producing seasons through 2014. Because of the Big Bang Theory’s large following, Christians should watch the show because it will help them understand specific social groups through humor and grow a greater understanding of how Christians are perceived in the secular world.…

Not Rock-n-Roll) says an asteroid struck the earth 65 million years ago, and created a dust cloud that kept sunlight from reaching the earth. This prevented photosynthesis, caused temperatures to substantially drop, and as a result dinosaurs to starved to death. As it turns out, we have a winner! This theory is the only one that holds weight because this hypothesis is testable, and evidence has been found to substantiate it. For years, scientists have sought to test and disprove the meteor idea, but repeatedly have discovered evidence all over the world of terrestrial minerals that could only have come from outer space. Gould argues that good science is “a fruitful mode of inquiry, not a list of enticing conclusions.” (Gould 433) In other words, theories have to encourage debate, and they must be testable, or it is nothing more than…
