African Americans have been denied of their constitutional rights by being kept from social and political equality. Many events have occurred that denied African Americans their civil rights but with hard work and struggle they overcame the odds and achieved equality. This was done to prevent African Americans from voting, if you can’t pay, read or write you can vote.
