1. INTRODUCTION
There have been several advances and technology today. This has brought about the creation of Wi-fi, Bluetooth, TiVo, iPod, Podcast, blog, vlog (video web log), wiki, GPS and smart phone. Almost everyday brings about the introduction of new technology terms to be used in the world today. Wireless technology and tiny high capacity computer chips enable fast, on-the-go communication. Talking on the phone, using internet and e-mail connections has enabled communication.
Communication is the process in which a sender creates and encodes a message. The sender then chooses the appropriate channel in which to send the message to the receiver. On receiving the message, the receiver then decodes the sent message and tries to make sense of it. This is a continuous process but perfect congruence is never achieved. Technology used in business communication includes wireless and internet communication, videoconferencing, intranet, cell phones and telephones, email, teleconferencing, fax and electronic bulletin boards.
Major technology trends affect business communication such as portability, specialization and selectivity. These trends increase the consumer’s control of what, when, where and how they send and receive messages. In addition, technology brings new ways of working and collaborating with different people in an organization.
