Through the course of our lives, we spend time doing particular tasks that may either help us to earn money or build the staircases to our futures and careers. However, beside these routine tasks, most of us also do things which we enjoy doing. Such activities are called ‘hobbies.’ Hobbies are activities which help us escape from daily routine and work and give us pleasure and peace of mind.
Last year I had no hobby, except reading, of course. But this summer I got acquainted with one person, with whom I discovered a lot of interesting leisure activities, among them boating, rope jumping, cycling, camping and rockclimbing.
So, now rockclimbing is my hobby. It was difficult enough for me to start, but I found some good advices wich I can share with you. So, if you want to become a climber, first of all you must work on your fitness level. You may run regularly, hit the gym for a few hours a day, or find some other way to keep yourself in tip-top shape. But that may not help you with your new hobby. For short but difficult climbs, you’ll want to make sure you increase your upper-body strength. For example, mountaineering demands a great deal of endurance, so building strength is a must. Of course, it`s not the only way to increase your climbing skils. You also have to visit indoor climbing gym. It`s very necessary, especially at winter, because possibility of outdoor climbing depends on weather. In indoor climbing gym you can watch and learn. So, while you’re at the climbing gym, watch how others make their way up the wall. You may learn something you can put to immediate use the next time you try. Also try asking questions. There always must be a trainer, who can help you to deal with your fears and provide knowledge, expertise, and tips on what you’re doing well and what needs to be improved.
