Of the 14 forces of Magnetism, I think that the five forces that I could incorporate into my practice are: quality of nursing leadership, personnel policies and programs, quality of care, autonomy, image of nursing, and interdisciplinary relationship. Not only that, I also support other nurses who have difficulty dealing with computer technology by helping them or showing them how to use our eMAR. Thus, on-time transcription of order leads to on-time administration of medication, thereby leading to the application of the quality of care (force 6) to our residents. Another example of quality of care is providing the staff feedback or education regarding infection control. As nurse leaders, we have to be proactive in “providing an environment that positively influences patient” (Ericksen, 2013, p. 10).
I believe that autonomy and interdisciplinary relationship go hand-in-hand in such a way that nurses are able to practice autonomy and are able to contribute to the interdisciplinary team in order to provide optimal quality care to the patients.
