This might be because of my unforgettable past experience while working on the ward and doing medicine reconciliation with patients, while interacting with one elderly patient with dementia, I was trying to talk in a slow speech clearly. However, out of my expectation, she was furious and didn’t understand what I was looking for. After this experience, I was lack of self-efficacy when talking to patients, for fear that they would suddenly burst into anger which I couldn’t manage and in worst case, patient harm might be resulted as patient was not listening to my concern and advice. That might be the reason why I was panicking while the patient started being worried in the stimulation as well as during the role play session while persuading patients to change their lifestyle.
