6.1:
The national and local government for education undertake roles and responsibilities for education, policy and practice.
The national government is responsible for the department of education and the services that are there for children. Therefore this goes on to mean that they are responsible for setting the national curriculum and early year stages. However these are not the only responsibilities and roles that the department of education hold they also are responsible for the following:
Funding educational projects in which concerns children and young people
Developing the workforce such as the 2020 children’s workforce strategy
Developing the roles for those of the third sector such as charities and voluntary organisation these of which are non-government organisations
Promoting team work for those who work with children and young people
Not only does the national government have roles and responsibilities and tell schools what needs to be implied but schools also need to be able to take it upon themselves to ensure that these are being implied and that they their selves are looking at new ways of development. Schools and nurseries can find ways to develop the school by undergoing the five outcomes of every child matters;
Stay safe
Enjoy and achieve
Make positive contribution
Be healthy
Achieve economic well-being
So not only do the government hold responsibilities in finding ways in which schools and nurseries can improve but schools and nurseries themselves also need to find ways.

The local education authority is responsible for providing many different things within schools such as school management issues, behaviour management, promoting the community, helping with development of the schools policies, special educational needs and staff training and any services in which they may need to attend.
