4-Benzaldehyde Lab Report
The following modification to the experiment were made: the amount of 4-benzaldehyde was double to 120 mg, instead using DMSO (no available in the lab) /Acetone (4:1) 8 ml of acetone was added. Also, 8 ml of saturated of aqueous ammonium chloride solution was used instead 1 ml.

0.032 L-Proline was stirred in 8 ml of acetone for 15 minutes then 0.12 g of 4-Nitrobenzaldehyde was added and the mixture was stirred for 1 hour and half. Then the mixture was treated with 8 ml of saturated of aqueous ammonium chloride solution and extraction with ethyl acetate was made, and the organic layer was separated and dried with (MgSO4 ) then by filtered.

To purified the product Thin-layer chromatography (TLC), 15 test tube were used to collect the

The properties of dibenzalacetone make it a great substance to be used when protecting the skin from the sun. In the experiment performed, dibenzalacetone was created from an aldol condensation of 2 portions of benzaldehyde and acetone in sodium hydroxide. The reaction that occurred in this experiment is known as a specific aldol condensation called Claisen-Schmidt. In the reaction, the carbonyl of benzaldehyde reacts quickly with the acetone anion to create a hydroxyketone that dehydrates in the presence of a base to give the desired product.…

3.1. Influence of the catalyst on synthesis of Benzimidazole Initially, we began with catalyst free reaction by stirring reaction mixture of a and b in ethanol at room temperature. Additionally, several reactions were performed using various catalysts in different reaction conditions and results are summarized in Table 1. The catalyst free reaction fails to produce selective benzimidazole and conversion of reactants in long reaction time and obtained only 21 % conversion with 13 % selective yield of c after 48 h reaction time (Table I, Entry 1).…

Friedel-Crafts liquid phase alkylation reaction of aromatic compounds is an industrially important which is known since 1877 and also commonly practiced in organic chemistry for the synthesis of various pharmaceutical compounds [1]. Catalytic benzylation of aromatics with benzyl chloride is one of the commercially significant C-C bond synthetic reaction processes to produce benzylated aromatics such as diphenylmethane and substituted diphenylmethanes. These are key intermediates in the synthesis of fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals such as analgesic or anti-inflammatory agent, reagent for inhibiting agglomeration of blood, backbone, and skeleton and commonly used in the fragrance industry as both fixative and scenting agent [2-7]. Friedel-Crafts…

Proteins are arguably the most important things that people know the least about. As OpenStax CNX puts it, “Proteins are one of the most abundant organic molecules in living systems and have the most diverse range of functions of all macromolecules”. Proteins are “Macromolecules that contain nitrogen as well as carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen”(Miller, Kenneth R., and Joseph S. Levine 48). Macromolecules are exceedingly large molecules that can be made up of several lesser molecules called proteins. These proteins are made up of numerous amino acids, which are “Compounds with an amino group (-NH2) on one end and a carboxyl group (-COOH) on the other end”(Miller, Kenneth R., and Joseph S. Levine 48). These amino acids are connected by a peptide bond, which is, as the Peptide Guide says “… a covalent bond that is formed between two molecules when the carboxyl group of one molecule reacts with the amino group of the another molecule, releasing a…

The experiment was done to separate the colored components of siling labuyo using column chromatography; to determine the purity of the components using the thin layer chromatography; and to measure the Rf values of the colored components in thin layer chromatography. Chromatography is the most modern and sophisticated method of separating mixtures and identifications of compounds in a solution. The procedures rely on the adsorptivities of the components to be separated. There are two involved phases in chromatography namely, the stationary phase which is the substance fixed in place and the mobile phase which is the phase that moves in definite direction. The experiment focused on the column and thin layer…

Chromatography is the separation of mixtures into their constituents. It relies on the differential solubilities or absorptivities of the components to be separated with respect to two phases, one of which is stationary and the other, mobile. The group aims to separate the coloured components of siling labuyo using column chromatography then determine the purity of the components using thin layer chromatography and lastly, measure the RF values of the coloured components in thin layer chromatography. The students plugged the column with cotton and silica gel inside the pasture pipette which later introduce the extract and eluent inside. The colored eluate was then collected and applied in precoated thin layer chromatography plate by spotting it ten times. Afterwards, the precoated thin layer chromatography plate was placed inside the closed beaker with 15 milliliter of dichloromethane-hexane and filter paper. The chromatography plate was removed; it was visualize under ultraviolet light; then, retention was measured at each components. Therefore,....…

For analysis of the formulation sample 1 gm was accurately weighed into a round bottom flask. 30 mL of methanol was added to the flask and the mixture was refluxed on a boiling water bath for about 30 min. The extract was then filtered through Whatman filter paper no. 41 (E. Merck, Mumbai, India). The same procedure was performed twice and filtrate obtained was combined together and made up to 100 mL with methanol.…
