Harmful ways of distracting is through watching television, or browsing social media. Another way to deal with stress is to reframe the way you think about a situation. Greenberg says that instead of thinking about the horrific outcome of not getting an A in a class, teens should take a step back and look at the whole picture. For example, if a teemn’s parents are very strict about grades, the teen will think that if they do not get a certain score in the marking period, their parents will be very upset. However, the teen should look to see is if their is anyway to improve on the grade like hire a tutor. Another form of reframing the situation is to change the time. For example, when Greenberg stated that teens were nevous with new challenges in their new high school, I felt the same way because many sophomores said to me that honors biology was one of the most difficult classes, and this stressed me out a lot. Over the summer, at least one time a day I would start freaking out about what would happen if I failed the summer quiz in biology. In fact, my parents often made me put the article (The main component the quiz was on) in a safe so that I would not be able to get it. However after reading what Greenberg had ot say, I found that there were so many other ways I could have dealt with my stress. I feel that distracting myself would be the best way to help cope about my school stress. This is because if I were to go on a light walk, I would be able to burn calories,while also thinking about other things other than the new school year. This method would help improve my physical health, but also improve my social, emotional, and environmental health in other ways. Distractions from my stress could improve my social health because I could call up my friends to see if they wanted to hang out, instead of sitting in the house all day reading a textbook chapter, and a Beri Beri article.
