Do type 2 diabetic patients with insulin pumps have lower A1C levels than Type 2 diabetic patients that use insulin injections?
How would you describe the concepts of reliability and validity as they pertain to quantitative research studies?
Validity refers to the instrument actually measuring the variable of interest. There are four primary ways of considering validity: face validity, content validity, criterion validity, and construct validity (CourseConnect, 2016).
According to CourseConnect The reliability of a quantitative study rests in the consistency and stability of its data collection instrument or instruments. This means that the instrument should return the same results repeatedly. The three principals …show more content…
I would have fasting labs drawn for the A1C levels between 8AM and 9Am, also no medications would be taken before blood draw. The testing would be done every four weeks for 24 weeks. The participants would have their blood drawn and tested on the same day. The blood sample would be sent to a laboratory that uses an NGSP-certified method for analysis to ensure the results are standardized. The above steps help to make my study reliable and possible for another researcher to repeat the study. To maintain validity in my study I would need to ensure my research question is answerable and that participants are randomly chosen. I would also make sure that I have the appropriate sized group to complete the study and I can gather enough evidence to prove if my study is reliable and valid. In addition, I would ensure that there is no bias involved in the study and that the instruments I am using will obtain the data that will answer my question. I would review with other researchers the instrument I am using and see if their results are similar to my results this will help to validate my …show more content…
if a mistake is made, admit that a mistake has happen. I would be objective when completing a study or making an observation, avoiding bias and let the facts speak for themselves.

Hi Debra, regarding the compliance with discharge instructions written in Spanish, what happens if the person cannot read? Would it be cost effective to provide a cd of the instructions in Spanish?
Hi Tanya, after reading your discussion I was wondering if the person binge drinks if that would have a difference on how the blood alcohol level
