The Frank family went into hiding on Thursday, July 9th, 1942.
They did not go underground, nor did they go far away, they just went to Otto Frank’s (Anne’s father) work. The Secret Annex, was their hide-out house for the war. The Annex was described as this “A room that serves as the Frank family's living room and bedroom. Next door is a smaller room, the bedroom and study of the two young ladies of the family, to the right of the stairs is a windowless washroom, with a link. The door in the corner leads to the toilet and another one to Margot's and my room.” (Frank, 1991). Up another flight of stairs, they had a
kitchen.
She lived in the annex until August 4th, when police got tipped off, and got all 8 of the members ( the Van Daan family and Mr. Dussel included) where captured along with the people on the outside helping them, and taken to different concentration camps. Anne died in February of 1945 and everyone else soon after, with the exception of her father, Otto. He live until 1980, he remarried and spent the rest of his life blessed to be alive. With the love, quarrels, happy time of the Annex, it was the highlight and most remembered part of her life.
