Who they are?
ABB is a global leader in power and automation technologies aimed at improving performance and lowering the environmental impact for their utility and industrial customers. They provide a broad range of products, systems, solutions and services which are designed to improve power grid reliability, increase industrial productivity and enhance energy efficiency.
Their power businesses focus on power transmission, distribution and power plant automation. Their automation businesses serve a full range of industries with measurement, control, protection and process optimization applications.
Industry and Business Details
ABB’s business is comprised of five divisions:
1. Power Products Division: This division primarily serves electric utilities, as well as gas and water utilities and industrial and commercial customers with a vast range of products and services across a wide voltage range to facilitate power generation, transmission and distribution. Their key technologies include high and medium switchgear, circuit breakers for a range of current ratings and voltage levels, power distribution.
2. Power System Division: This division serves utilities, as well as industrial and commercial customers with system solutions and services for the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. Their solutions include power plant electrification and automation, bulk power transmission, substations and network management.
3. Discrete Automation and Motion Division: This division offers a wide range of products and services including drivers, motors, generators, power electronics system, rectifiers, power quality products, photovoltaic invertors, programmable logic controllers and robots. These products help customers to improve productivity, save energy, improve quality and generate energy.
