Essay Title

Introduction Hello, my name is Abel Lopez and I'm going to be interviewing my mother Brisa Lopez. I'm going to be asking 3 quick questions. The first question I asked was, "What is the best way to get a job?" In what ways is life today different from life during your childhood? The second question was, how did your parents decide on your name? Then thirdly I asked if you had the ability to see into the future, what would you want to know? I chose these questions because I am truly interested in her response to these questions because it gives me a chance to know her better and these questions stuck out to me the most. Interview Question #1: (In what ways is life today different from life during your childhood?) As I sat down with my

Her response was, Her life today is more stable than life during her childhood. When she was a child she moved around a lot and she had to make new friends, move homes, and go to different schools. And now that she is an adult she has been more stable, not having to move around, she's been living in the house she's been in for more than multiple years now. She has more control as an adult now than she had when she was a child. Interview Question #2: How did your parents decide on your name? As I moved on to ask my second question, I asked my Mother how her parents decided on her name. She responded, saying her parents didn't agree on a name at first. She liked that name, too. Until one day, her mother was sewing in the dining room and a commercial came on the TV in the living room and

In response to her accomplishments during her schooldays she said she was shy but did have goals, and worked hard in school to obtain good grades. Since she had two older siblings, they would walk her to school and help her with her weakest subject-math. The support she received from her mother, sister and brother helped her learn how to “sumar y restar”, which means to add and subtract. Mrs. Limon only attended school up to the 6th grade level. When I asked her how her youth compared to the youth now, she said it was not comparable. That the youth was more respectful and had “healthier” lifestyles. She also shared that she had many boyfriends and started having boyfriends at the age of 15, but the relationship she had with them was very innocent. We laughed when she confessed that out of all her boyfriends her husband was her favorite, and they married when she was 18 years old. During Erikson's fifth stage of development, adolescents are trying to find their true identity. I believe she was trying to find her true self through all her boyfriends, and she overcame that crisis when she met her husband. Mrs. Limon united in marriage at the age of 18 and had her first child at 19 years old, and three more every two years. Her most enjoyable stage of her life have been having her children and marrying her husband. She shared the the bond that she has with her husband is indescribable, and loves…

I was supposed to be named Rachel. It was a compromise, my mother told me, from what my dad had picked: Raquel. Growing up, I had a friend named Rachel that was nothing like me: soft, composed, and the sweetest smile. As it is hebrew, the name comes from the biblical name meaning “O Beautiful One” or “female sheep”. While this is nice and all, it was much more fitting for my friend.
