Over the years abortion has been rapidly increasing, especially in the Republic of China. It is believed by many to be immoral and even considered as murder. The term abortion is defined as “the termination of pregnancy or the expulsion or removal of the fetus or embryo from the womb.” According to the World Health Organization, over 70 thousand maternal deaths occur due to unsafe abortion, proving that it is not only the children that die but the women as well. There will be many arguments about abortion. People will always have different opinions of what is right and what is wrong. I write this article to persuade you that abortion is wrong and terrible and the ways it can be eradicated.
The one-child policy in China actually supports a forced abortion and has a negative impact on many people. It is very uncommon for a woman in China to have more than one child, however, if a woman is found pregnant with a second child, the child is likely to die. This is not only causing an increasing amount of death in China but infringing on women’s rights.
People consider abortion to be murder since the baby in or out of the womb is still living. Children can’t and don’t ask to be born, this is purely an option only adults have. Whether the woman chose to get pregnant or not, individuals feel that abortion is taking the right to live from a human being. “Some people say that humans only get to exercise the right of choice once they are old enough to reason, but others feel that a competent adult can also speak for those who are unable to do so, on their own.” A lot of people get rejected when trying to adopt a child, which makes adoption seem hard to these individuals. However, most people feel putting a child up for adoption is much better than going through an abortion.
