    Essay On My Identity

    • 648 Words
    • 3 Pages

The identity we assume can often be a large part of how we see ourselves and how others around us can get a snapshot of our personalities, our origins, and how we wish to be portrayed. Sometimes the line between distinct identities can be blurred and a person can lose sight of who they are or where they feel like they belong most. Such can often be the case for immigrants as myself, who can sometimes struggle to find the identity that addresses the new life they have molded into and most represents their culture and experiences.…

I prefer to be true to myself, even at the endangerment of finding the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and finding my own detestation. Why should I worry about what others think of me? I don’t give a shit about how others perceive my personality because to begin with, I know myself and I also know my own demons — in which, at the outset, are just conventional behaviors of an ordinary human being.…

Identity is something human beings hold dear. Humans are very complex beings and it is difficult to pinpoint exactly what makes up who a person is or can be. Now, the most common generalizations as to what makes up an identity are: personality, likes, dislikes, experience(s), religion, soul, memories and beliefs. A physical form isn’t mentioned; because the body is a temporary thing. A body doesn’t necessarily mean that it is part of the identity since; what will last forever in not the body but the impact left by personality or ideas, for they are everlasting.…

Let’s be honest here now, I am enslaved in more than one way. How exactly am I enslaved? I am enslaved through stereotyping, society and through my Type A brain. As a free person in America, who has never been discriminated against to my memory in my life yet; it is hard to see how I am enslaved in my daily life. However, I have been enslaved through how society has treated women, how I have been stereotyped for being a women, and also my over organizing brain.…

I often wonder when I am stuck in my thoughts. Like feeling like the cement is taking over your body. Why I am me, and I do the things I do and I say the things I say. And then I wonder if it is a paradox or something we truly don’t find out until we get older until we have many experiences and learn not to do things and we go through some hard things and some happy and some sad and we regret. We wish we could take back things we said we wish we could be someone were not. We think the thunderstorms, rain showers that are going on inside of our heads are merely just nonexistent we care too much but yet we don’t care about the things that we should. We wish we could be everything were not. It’s almost as if us as humans like we are designed like…

From fighting over Barbie dolls to waging wars over whole countries, we have always wanted for what was "rightfully" ours. Ownership is and has always been a major part of human existence. And while ownership is mostly considered in the tangible, visible sense, such as a watch, I believe we own the intangible as well, like our inner morals or our actions. I also believe that all of what we own, whether it be a watch or a value, directly creates who we are.…
