This research paper explores the aspects of Going Green. This research paper consists mainly of secondary data and references done through articles, Internet, and environmentally related published books. Going Green means a lifestyle change that is in balance with humanity and the earth. Going Green is essential to maintaining sustainability and conserving our natural resources for the future and our children’s future. It is predicated that the world’s population growth is expected to reach 9 billion by 2050 and that means we need to act now and find workable solutions for our environment. Energy, food and water resources will become harder to obtain as the population grows. By going green means living sustainably or making daily decisions that are in line with the earth’s long-term well-being. Going Green at home is the first step in the right direction. By going green at home is the best way to lead by example and expose younger generations on how to do so, so that the environment can still be there for them to enjoy in the future.
Aspects of Going Green
Introduction
A startling revelation for me was reading that the world’s fresh water resources represents only 2.5% vs. 97.5% sea water as explained in chapter 10 of Environmental Science. (Wright & Boorse, 2012) This fact alone caught my attention and made me think about my current activities that would impact adding pollution to the environment or water cycles. I began to think what I can do to reduce and conserve for the future. Also learned in our Environmental course and further depicted in Appendix A is a chart of the population growth of the entire world is expected to reach 9-12 billion people later part of this century. ("Population growth," 2006) These statistics are mind boggling. How are we ever going to accommodate sustainable resources against an ever increasing consumer base? The problem and challenge at hand is absolutely overwhelming and very
