Adelinel Monologue
It had been, yet again, a gloomy afternoon in the boring town of Louth, England. Louth had always been a town where everyone knew each other. There were about 400 people in that town, each of them putting on a friendly face for show. Adeline, a 12-year-old had longed for excitement for she was different that the others.
Adeline was the youngest of her large family. She had become an orphan when she was seven after her father and mother disappeared suddenly. Adeline created many theories as to why he left- did they not want her anymore? Were they tired of the responsibilities that came with caring for a child? She wanted to know so much more.
She lived with two brothers and three sisters who all were adopted from Mrs. White’ Orphanage. Adeline

Adeline knew that she should just ignore their awful insults, but she wasn’t strong enough. Their words would seep into her brain.
The safest place for her to be free of those thoughts was when she would read or be high up in the trees. Up in the trees, she would listen to the beautiful song the birds sand and the wind softly blowing through the green leaves. From there she could see the many rows of the same old houses. The colors were dull as they usually were gray and an off-white. She would have wanted her house a light blue and orange with glowing yellow tulips in the front yard. However, no one would approve of this. Her family encouraged her to act normal like everyone else.
Adeline made many trips to Mr. Linden's library on a daily basis. She felt that books brightened up her world and made it more interesting. Mark teased her day after day because of how much she was in her room with her head in a book. She would read for hours until she finished so she could check out a new book. it's like she would disappear into a story. It was her time away from all the bad things in her

Why couldn’t she stop? Was she being controlled? Adeline had realized what a stupid answer this was once it popped into her head. Maybe she read too many fictional stories? but what else could be happening? After the thought she noticed her bare feet walking, not across her bedroom floor, but on the dirty sidewalk along the main street. Where was it taking her, whoever it was? Then, she heard a faint voice. A woman was hissing to her in a cold voice, “find the truth.” It played over and over again like a broken record. Was she going insane? “Stop it! STOP IT!” she screamed and the voice suddenly froze.
There was a familiar sound, she couldn’t quite make out what it was. The smell of old leather filled her lungs. She was in Mr. Linden's Library, but why here? Her thoughts to still of right now was the only thing she could control. She developed an angry feeling in her stomach. Why was she here? What was the purpose of this? Did they just want to make her go

We didn’t arrive at our destination until 5 o’clock the next afternoon, when the river deposited us on the nearby shore. It was now February 16th, and we had 2 days left in our journey. When we recovered from our river highway, we realized we were in the middle of a big city. We stood up and looked around to determine our location. We were in Baton Rouge, the capital of Louisiana. (Shook). I told Viviane that I wanted to spend the night here because we may not have another chance to get any sleep, so we found a cheap hotel we could stay at. It wasn’t too late yet, so we decided to go see something before we went to bed. A hotel worker suggested The Enchanted Mansion, a doll museum (Campbell). When we got to the museum, there weren’t very many…

At one-thirty in the afternoon, Carolee Mitchell was running the vacuum cleaner, or she would have heard the first sirens and looked out. After the first, there weren’t any others. The calling voices, even the number of dogs barking, could have been students on their way back to school, high-spirited in the bright, cold earliness of the year. Thinking back on the sounds, Carolee remembered a number of car doors being slammed, that swallow of air and report which made her smooth her hair automatically even if she wasn’t expecting anyone. But what caught her eye finally was what…
