A major tool of the Nazis that contributed to the propaganda was a weekly newspaper called Der Stürmer, which translates to The Attacker. According to the Jewish Virtual Library, “At the bottom of the front page of each issue, in bold letters, the paper proclaimed, ‘The Jews are our misfortune!’” The Nazis also combined the evolutionary theories of Charles Darwin and their own racial theories, claiming that the Germans were destined to rule because they were the strongest and the fittest, while the Jewish race was doomed to extinction. Eventually, these attacks became violent. After a 17 year old Jewish boy murdered the third secretary in the German Embassy for deporting his family, Nazis raided, looted, and destroyed, even burned, Jewish synagogues, stores, homes, and imprisoned over 30,000 Jews that were sent to concentration camps. Time Magazine's editor, Jim Kelly, stated in an interview, “Well, the classic definition of TIME's Person of the Year is the person who most affected the events of the year, for better or for worse.” This shows that despite his negative impact, he still fit the general criteria. In the same interview, Jim Kelly also said, “A lot of news is bad news and a lot of people who make bad news are very powerful people.” Hitler had a huge significance in not only those years, but over the century as a whole.
