As time progressed floppy disks became cd’s that held information for you to upload on the computer as well as copy information and load it on the cd. Over the years of using cd’s, another change occurred and that was the flash drives that we use to store information and these new drives are small, compact, and can hold more information than ever before. In addition to the flash drives the computers have gotten smaller in size, compact, and capable to do everything we can imagine from banking to completing assignments and posting on the university’s classroom page.…

Technology can help students develop through exploration and research to better learning skills. Students who collect information from the Internet tend to be more independent and do not need to rely on the teacher as much. Students can also create their own understanding of a subject, so it is easy for teachers to understand the students' knowledge.…

The technologies that are available to K-12 teachers that can be utilized in the classroom are very plentiful. The major issues are getting the technology to the classroom. With budget cuts and school district cut backs the future classrooms will have obstacles to overcome. However, the electronic whiteboards are showing up in many classrooms around the country. (2007 ISTE). The electronic whiteboards are interactive and they are connected to a computer that is connected to a projector that will display a screen on a board. The ability to access web sites is possible, teaching interactive lessons as well as games that have lessons created for the whiteboard device. The tradition whiteboard is still available with this device and the capability to save work. As of the 21st century, technological use has become so readily available to people that it's inevitable. It is a part of society's trends, and has been implemented throughout schools across the nation. For example, schools have adopted the use of calculators, even though there was a upheaval about calculators in the early 1870s, as depicted in the article, "Legalized Cheating" The Wall Street Journal (2006): Print by Ellen Gamerman. Calculators were a very controversial device in the classroom due the fact that it can spit out an answer, leading to the notion that students would be inadequate because they wouldn't be able to think for themselves. Also, when teachers issue a project, for the most part, we have moved away from the tri-folds, poster boards, or foldables. Now, we are using the newer technology like prezi or glogster, to…

"The Evolving Classroom: Lessons Go Virtual." Schools of Thought RSS. N.p., 27 June 2012. Web. 03 Nov. 2013. This article is mainly about a new website that Eric Westendorf and Alix Guerrier invented called LearnZillion.com. This website helps teachers that need some assistance in teaching their kids, even if they all learn at different paces. Bastien says that “Even with textbooks and years of experience, the best teachers can struggle to find new ways of teaching complex subjects, especially when each student learns differently”, and explains how the new website is like YouTube, where you have to watch a five minute video, as many times as it takes to understand, and then take a little quiz to show that the information has been learned. The idea for this website came from KahnAcademy.org but isn’t non-profit. Most of their funding so far has come from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This source can be a very valuable one to me. It gives many different facts about technology in the classroom and how they relate to overall education. The fact that this organization is supported by the Bill Gates foundation really emphasizes how much of an impact this could make in future education. One of the most important counter arguments for this article is that “there have been as many failures and successes” says Bastien. This article represents teachers and professors as the stakeholders. They are an important part of the educational system and hold a big part in the future of education. I can use this article in many different ways because it explains how technology should be used in the classroom, but also uses counterarguments against the…

Without advanced technology such as laptops and mobile devices, none of my short or long term goals would be possible. Since education is my field of interest, it is vital that I have a good understanding of the current technological devices and their applications in the classroom. Advanced technology in the classroom prepares each student individually for the work force they intend to train for. Jobs today require computer work no matter what the job is. Secretaries need a computer for daily workload, doctors need technology for charting and communication with patients, and even mechanics need technology for diagnostic purposes. The way technology is benefiting the business world in adults is similar to how it can affect the classroom and children. Advanced technology in the classroom can allow students and teachers to virtually communicate and set goals toward the student's direct…
