African Pancake Descriptive Writing
of telling someone you like something of theirs. She also said something about wanting to do something so that her face was light colored like our someday. I tried to tell her that God made us this way and her that way and he loves here just the way he made her. We eventually left and on the way home we were stopped by the police. They said that they were going to arrest our driver. What they really wanted was for us to pay a bribe. We did have too many people in the van though and our driver did not have a public transportation license. We also were not suppose to have people in the back. Thankfully they did not do anything about it. We actually started to get everyone out of the car and they told us to just go on. Thankfully that is all that …show more content…
On my way, I read my bible. I read about Jacob's death and the time of mourning. Egyptians mourned a looong time and I thought the African time till funerals was long. :) After some shopping, we went to Living Life Cafe for lunch. It is a cute restaurant. Some of the dinning area is set up like a house. There is also tables out in the garden area. We set outside at one of the tables. I ordered an African dish. It was a chicken and mayo pancake and a spinage and feta pancake. African pancakes are like crapes. Their American style “pancakes” are called flapjacks. After we finished eating, we went to the Motovilovs to practice for the nursing home. After practicing, we went to the nursing home and had our little service. Erika and I sang “Because He Lives. The kids had songs and instrumentals. Next I played the piano for our group to sing “What a Friend We have in Jesus.” Finally Aunt Hessy gave a devotional. After the service, we handed out cookies. Then after we were done socializing with those in the community room, we went door to door, gave out cookies, and sang with the people. At the one room the lady told us that it made their day happy that we were there, because they don't usually get visitors. I then asked her if she knew Jesus. She said she did and that He helped her. She said that when she had pain and she called out to God and told him that it was more then she can handle that God would touch her. It was exciting to here how much she excited about how good God is. She wanted me to tell her a Bible story, because she said that they don't get people to do that for them. I told her a real quick version of Cain and Abel. We got stuck there talking to here while the rest finished at the other doors. We could have been their longer, but everyone was ready to leave. I think that she really enjoyed talking with us and it

The concert started off by the Marysburg Youth Choir (the choir I was involved with) handing out candles to all the adults in the audience. Next, all the choirs sang O Come All Ye Faithful, along with the hand bells. And then the Marysburg Choir sang Dance into the night, which took my breath away on how well put together it was. Next from the same choir was Come and See. Following that was an instrumental trio- oboe, bassoon and piano playing O Come, O Come Emmanuel. And then came my groups turn. First, we sang the song When A Child Is Born, which I got lots of practice on because of choir here at HCI. And then we sang Glory to the Lamb, which was fabulous. Next, the hand bells and the organ played the song An English Christmas which was very well put together. Next was Be Still My Soul performed by the Mens Choir and the bassoon. Then came Ding Dong Merrily on High, by the hand bells, oboe and bassoon. Then came The First Nowell snag by all the choirs. Then, Joy to the World, which included all the instruments as well.…

As soon as you pull into 3130 Piedmont Rd NE in Atlanta, GA, The deep rich red colors that they use definitely stick out in the bright colored busy neighborhood that it is in, a neighborhood that you might not expect a nice restaurant to be. As you walk through the doors, you are immediately greeted by the host/hostess, and the atmosphere inside is sure to catch your attention. One wall is covered entirely by a mirror, giving the appearance that the dining room is a lot larger than it actually is. There are photographs hanging on the other walls of celebrities like Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, and Danny Kaye, and other famous people like President George Bush, and President Ronald Reagan all of which have dined there. Although there is a tie requirement, the other décor is not so much as to make someone feel uncomfortable. It is rather ranch style, with Bull horn, and Mason jar chandeliers, and rustic wood furniture.…

When my cousin from California came to Michigan for a party she came to my house on her last night in Michigan. She came over to watch a movie with us and sleepover. While watching the movie I sat next to her. After the movie we went upstairs and all slept in one bed. We were talking and my mom and dad told us either we sleep or quiet down. After that we took out her phone and started to text in her phone and pass it around so we could all read it.…

But sadly enough I faded away from the sermon and watch the children nearby. Mostly hearing I expect but some possibly deaf of their own. It was a joy to watch some laughs and run and play and be children. Interesting to watch these children interact with each other in English having a good old time and then run over to the parent who are deaf. The small children quickly turn and start talking to their parents in ASL. Was an incredible sight to see these children transfer language of the flip of a switch, how they have grown up bilingual living and being raised somewhere to me but different and a whole other aspect. This concludes my visit Table Rock Park and the church service I attended there which was quite amazing to experience the factor of its own. The culture of the community is so overwhelming it's like no other organization or group that ever come across: passionate, caring, and devoted…

I didn’t know what to expect and honestly I didn’t expect what I got. It was two nights before we were going to leave to go home. The trip had been amazing and very unexpected. We went to a church service at Agora ministries church, located in a pretty rough part of San Antonio, after a really long day at the apartment complex we worked at. That day we held a sports camp for all of the kids that lived in that apartment complex and it was really fun! We played kickball, soccer, football, water balloons, and sang songs with all of the kids! That night, my team performed a human video. Human video are kind of like plays except with music and there normally isn’t any talking. The room wasn’t very large, but it was big enough to fit all 2-3 hundred kids and leaders (from different churches across the states). It was a dark room, but very colorful and I remember that it had a disco ball at the center of it. For the human video we were supposed to denim jeans and black T-shirts with our shirts tucked (which was very uncomfortable with me ). The human video was about how much God loves us and how He died on the cross to save this man who raped women. It showed Jesus dying on the cross and inviting that man into his family even though he…

The service started off by music being played which consisted of a piano, and choir. The songs were about praising God and thanking him and glorifying him. After the music, pastor Luis V. Evardoni walked up. The pastor had one of those collars around his neck that had that white square in the middle which is called a clerical collar. It symbolizes a sign of a person’s holy calling. The pastor then made all of the announcements about…

But I locked myself in my parents room because the ruckus out in the living was too much for me. It was already past 8 o'clock and I already knew that they weren't going to be leaving anytime soon. So I decided to fill my ears with some encouraging Christian music and my eyes with a book called 5 Minutes with Jesus. Just as I finished reading a chapter of the book I saw my dad coming into the room, and in the hallway I heard some mutter, "Grandpa just pasted away..." I walked to my dad and hugged him as he cried and uttered some words I couldn't get into my head. I let go of him and walked back into empty, frigid, starless room. I closed the door shut and didn't even bother to turn on the lights as I fell on my knees and cried endless prayers. Eventually I came out of the room sluggishly to look at my grandfather, and there I heard cries…
