There, she found her nine-year-old sister Clara sitting at the table and her twelve-year-old brother Fletcher. Clara had her nose stuck in a book and cramming a bagel into her mouth. “Morning,” Alisha greeted, pouring herself a bowl of Cheerios. Clara just nodded and mumbled a hello, mouth still full. Alisha only ate half of her breakfast, before putting her dirty bowl in the dishwasher. It was almost seven o'clock, almost time to head to school. Alisha heard a bus rumble down the road, Clara having now eaten all her bagel, hurriedly grabbed her backpack, and yelled, “MOM! The bus is here!” Alisha picked up her backpack and slowly walked toward the door. Marsha came skipping down the stairs, tired Mrs. Wilson in tow. Alisha awaited them at the door, but Mrs. Wilson waved her on, “I'm going to drive Marsha myself, you go on before you’re late.” Alisha nodded, waved goodbye, and walked out the door. The car was half way over the tracks when the train hit the rear of the car. Sabrina threw her arms around her niece protectively, and held her tight. The car spun and crashed into a tree. Alisha's world turned black. When she did gain some consciousness someone was holding her hand, she was in so much pain. "Why?" she wondered, and then the horrible accident was replayed in her mind, the sound of brakes, the screams, the smell of blood, but the worse thing was the tomblike silence that drowned out all other noise. A silence that is so thick, and black, like she was stuck in a room and couldn't get out. She panicked; no it couldn't end like this. She then stopped fighting the deafening silence and let it carry her far away. She woke, bright lights blinded her, she wasn't in heaven and she wasn't dead. On fact she was in a hospital, she painfully look to her right. There she saw her mother sitting by her bed asleep "Mom?" she croaked.
