People have enjoyed watching and playing sports for centuries, even millennia, but with all the excitement and competition comes a lot of injuries and accidents. The game that has the most serious injuries and is the most dangerous is football. The classic game of American football must be banned from scholastic sports leagues because it causes many types of serious injuries that have detrimental effects on the lives of students both now and in the future.
With a sport as physically demanding as football there is always a high risk of injury. One of the most serious injuries sustained by athletes in this sport is usually called a concussion or traumatic brain injury. The brain is surrounded in a protective fluid called cerebrospinal fluid that can cushion it from everyday bumps and movements. Those kids were someone’s family or friend, and they could’ve had a bright future if it weren’t for the horrible violent accidents caused by a foolishly dangerous game. When these accident don’t kill them, it leaves devastating effects on their brains. Severe brain damage can affect every part of life. According to Mayo Clinic, symptoms of traumatic brain injury include: persistent headaches, seizures, coma, strange behavior/mental disabilities, and slurred speech along with many other symptoms.
