America's Unity
Before the Civil War, America was separated. People used to say the “United States are”. It wasn’t until after the war people started saying the “United States is”. Unity is what helped this country flourish into the superpower it is today. The United States of America is considered one of the greatest countries in the world. Our right to democracy, religion, speech, and much more, are the few reason why we are marked as a dominant country. However, within the last decade America’s unity has been on edge and is slowly dividing, due to constant issues within its borders. Americans are starting to turn on each other. People’s opinions on certain government issues and politics are fueling hate throughout the country. A major issues America is …show more content…
From Syrian refugees to Mexican refugees to African refugees, America has been experiencing an over flowing amount of immigrants entering its borders. With such an overwhelming amount, the process of becoming a legal citizen of America is a long and dainty process that on average can take about 10-15 years. Since the process is so time consuming, many of these immigrants migrate to America illegally and never take the proper steps toward becoming a legal citizen. This is where the Americans begin to bear the burden because since most immigrants don’t work towards their citizenships they stay here in the US and live off of the government and it’s the Americans who are stuck paying for these immigrants through their tax dollars. Another issue with America allowing so many immigrants into its borders is the increase risk of possible terroristic attacks and drug issues. Many people would try and argue that most of these immigrants aren’t trying to harm Americans but, rather trying to escape their war torn countries. However, regardless of the circumstance I believe that as Americans we need to close our borders to immigrants and focus on our people because America is a dived country currently and, a divided America is a weak

Unification is a concept central to the foundation of America. In order to gain independence from Great Britain, the American colonies needed to join together, and fight side by side. However, during the election of 2004, cooperation was not on the minds of most Americans. Republican candidate and President George Bush ran against Democratic Party candidate John Kerry for the position of President of the United States. Although the attack on America on 9/11 in 2001 brought about a period of increased nationalism, it also resulted in many political and economic problems that created tension between political parties. Economically, much of their disagreement was affected by the growing difference in personal financial satisfaction in America.…

A major problem the United States faces today is illegal immigration. The United States is a country founded upon immigrants who have come here legally and made productive lives. Illegal immigration is a drain on the economy and poses an excessive risk to the citizens of this country. In a post 9/11 world the U.S. faces many challenges and foreign enemies like never seen before in the past. Border security is an issue that has not been taken seriously, yet is the one critical issue that is vital to our nation’s national security and preservation. It is estimated that eleven to twelve million undocumented immigrants live and work in the United States, roughly one in every twenty workers, according to a study by the Pew Hispanic Center (Pew Hispanic Website). Most illegal immigrants that enter the country do so from the U.S.-Mexico border. In 2007, some 880,000 people were arrested illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico broder. According to the American Federation for Immigration Reform (FAIR), eighteen percent of illegal immigrants fall below the poverty line (Fairius.org). This is compared to eleven percent of the poverty stricken individuals who are native born. The implications from this is simple for the United States: illegals are twice as likely than native born citizens to apply and receive some sort of federal assistance that is taxpayer funded. Annualy state governments are spending anywhere between eleven billion to twenty two billion dollars to provide aid to illegal immigrants. Another major problem faced by our current policy of allowing illegal immigrants into our country is approximately two billion a year of tax payer dollars are spent on WIC, food stamps, school lunches, etc. Our country spends two and a half billion dollars a year on Medicaid for illegal immigrants and roughly seventeen billion a year is spent…

Many immigrants are already apart of the American Community and have been for so many years. We can’t really do anything about thos immigrants who are already in America and have been for a decade. During their time here, “many have started families, and have children who are granted automatic citizenship as a result of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S Constitution” (Griswald 1.) It would be cruel to deport those children’s parents, their families would be ripped apart and the children would have to fend for themselves. Americans are worried about the threats and crimes, but not by the ones whom are already living in America, but more from those who are still trying to cross the border.…

Today, the United States of America is known for its strong structured government and this ideology of freedom among its people. However, the reality was that our journey to gain this freedom and structure was a rocky road that caused a division among the American people. A couple of issues that caused a division among American society were the purchase of the Louisiana Territory and the expansion of slavery into new territories. Slavery has always been a controversial topic, and people had used their opinions to argue for their support or rejection of expansion of slavery into new territories.…

The sweat and revenue immigrants bring into America is fruitless when the Xenophobia mindset forbids Americans from moving forward and accepting fruitful foreigners. We saw this embedded in the minds of the locals and the police in John Steinbeck’s , The grapes of wrath and now in Donald Trump’s ‘Make America again’. This campaign includes plans like building a wall along the mexican-american border, extreme vetting, and closing the doors on all syrian refugees. This is a contemporary twist to how Trump supporters resembled the locals attitude toward the Oakies and the native Americans when they manipulated the justice system to discourage, maybe even block the migrants from coming into California. This view belittles America’s in born morals, This country was made and built by immigrants not only to pursue an improved tomorrow but escape persecution from what they called home. By taking the freedom aspect of this great country, We as Americans are sadly degrading not only ourselves as…

Immigrants who are in the United States deserve to stay here. The government should not be hasty about kicking them out and help them stay in America if the reach a certain requirement. The process would include for immigrants to have a background check, paying taxes, paying a penalty, learning english, and they would have to wait just like other people who want to come into america have to wait. Their shouldn’t be a fight about who is and who isn't allowed to come into the U.S. anymore, anyone should be able to America and feel safe. Deportation needs to end, their shouldn’t be a right or wrong on what race you are if it’s hispanic or muslim, there shouldn’t be argument in this. Immigration is not a bad thing for America either, the economy rises and it adds jobs, over 9 million jobs were made just by immigration. Immigrants already pay taxes and most immigrants are law abiding, America should let those who have lived here remain here, as Bernie Sanders said “It is time to end the discussion of mass deportation. We cannot and we should not even be talking about sweeping up millions of men, women, and children, many of whom have been here for years, and throwing them away.” (Sanders). In today’s society more people would rather have people who have immigrated into America turn into citizens than get deported, it would be…

As an individual who has witnessed family friends of immigrants that came to this country over 20 years ago in hope of a better future. I understand why so many immigrants are willing to cross a border so dangerous and treacherous to reach a country that is called the land of opportunities. What we call The Unites States of America the land of the free. An average of 2,700 illegal immigrants are willing to cross the border each day leaving there families and risking their own life's to cross to the US. Mostly in the news we tend to hear only the superficial fact but never the real facts or the stories of the capture immigrants. If we would just take time to listen to the real stories of what I called the unforgotten children and women. We could understand the reason why immigrants are willing to take such a difficult decision to cross a border in order to improve their life styles of their families within the economy, escape prosecution of gangs and looking for a better future for the children.…

We are the country of freedom, happiness, and redemption to other countries. This is what leads to criminal activity and situations other countries do not have to deal with. The restriction of Mexico, Central, and South America is what increased the rate of illegal immigration. “a committee within the House of Representatives formulated a new immigration bill, H.R. 4437 (Sensenbrenner/King Border Protection, Antiterrorism and Illegal Immigration Control Act of 2005)”, this proposed the construction of nearly 700 miles of fencing. This is now being redesigned by D. Trump, and he is dedicated to keeping them out. Immigration illegal or legal cost the U.S. economy around 70 million dollars per year. The money they cost us to be here takes away from our hospitals and schools as well as money they earn working and the 500 million dollars of taxpayers money a year they use just while being incarcerated. Though they use a lot of money and are here under no government knowledge, does that mean they should have so many restrictions. As the number of immigrants increase officials are endorsing different forms of amnesty for groups with sympathetic situations which is dangerous and misleading for many reasons. Protecting our country is a good thing but this is not the way America was meant to…

Illegal immigration into the United States is currently massive in scale. More than 10 million undocumented aliens currently reside in the U.S., and that population grows by 700,000 per year. The outrageous number of immigrants stands to show the great attractiveness of America, though on the negative side it stands to show how dangerously open our borders really are. When three out of every 100 people in America are undocumented (or possess forged and faked papers), there is clearly a profound security problem. Even though they pose no real security threat, the presence of millions of undocumented migrants distort the law and effectively…

The biggest problem of immigration is the way it has divided America. During this last election, I heard the topic of Immigration discussed more than I’ve ever heard before, and most of it was opinion, rather than fact. Immigration has triggered the most disgusting fears of many Americans, the “foreign people are coming to take over” fear. In my opinion, immigration is a good thing, as it brings diversity to the United States, which is something I value very much. Many people believe that immigrates come to America, rent homes, use the U.S. and then leave. However, according to the Center for American Progress, 50.7 percent of immigrants are homeowners, compared to 64.6 percent of U.S. citizens. I’ve heard quite a few people say that immigrants…

As proclaimed in Psalm 33:12, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the lord, the people He chose as His heritage.” Just as the Lord had united our nation as one, a multitude of cultures spread across the integrated nation. Culture can be defined as beliefs, morals, and knowledge acquired by individuals within society. Correspondingly, within the various cultures in America, churches have created a degree of recognition for the culture and used this to strengthen the unity and balance between religion and governance of our nation. Noticeably, culture possesses a profound effect over the ministry within Christian churches within America…

The United States of America is known as the land of dreams and opportunity. Unfortunately, not all immigrants can enter the country legally; they have no other choice than to enter the country illegally. Many of us immigrants come to this wonderful country to work, live, and struggle everyday to create a better life for us and our family. Nevertheless there are others that choose the wrong path and end up becoming criminals, creating a negative effect for this country. I know the subject of illegal immigration into the United States is very controversial and challenging; however, America’s systematic approach for naturalizing illegal immigrants entering the…

The United States is a nation of immigrants whose citizens are battling with each other over immigration policy. Immigration is an active political topic today, and arguably one of the strongest topics in many elections over the past decades. Some want to close the borders and deport as many as possible, while others want to open the borders and give immigrants the same rights and benefits as citizens. As with most political topics though, there isn’t one clearly defined act that could solve the problem. The steps that should be taken to help the immigration problem are to reduce border control, implement a more open legal immigration process, and enforce harsher penalties on the employers of illegal immigrants.…

Have we really become that selfish of a nation to just disregard the reasons immigrants migrate from their birth countries? So just because they were not born in this country, we should not be protective of their rights as human beings? How about the fact that society has even categorized these individuals with the label of immigrant, for me, we are not living up to the American standard of peace & equality for all. The current treatment of immigrants is very unjust, being that there are so many different obstacles set forth by both Federal and State enforcement agencies. I intend to unveil the political biases, discrepancies, and flaws of all schools of thought on the past and current proposed immigration reform. This country is in need of an immigration reform that will protect the individual rights of humanity while ensuring the safety, fairness and reasonableness of all parties, at all times.…

Illegal immigration is a term that many of us around the country are becoming more familiarized with each day. We believe there needs to be a change in the way illegal immigrants are handled. Illegal immigrants should not be deported for unjustified reasons, but the United States border control should apply a stronger force on our borders. We cannot uproot the lives of many illegal immigrants that live in our country. Doing so would cause an uproar within our country. We need to find a way to satisfy the amount of illegal immigrants within our country. Putting a limit on the number of people coming into our country and keeping the number relatively close is very important. Immigrants can affect our country in a variety of ways including their…
