Personally I would not want to use this book in my classroom because it was a bit confusing. I, myself, had to go back and reread parts of it because it wasn’t clear as to what was going on. Some of the abstract language may make it hard for students to focus on the book and understand it. The book’s mathematics content is correct and accurate so I would give this a 5 because there is nothing that isn’t correct. It shows the right numbers as even and odd, speaks about addition and subtraction in the right manner, speaks to symmetry, looks at x and y which could be used in functions and graphs, and other concepts. The book’s mathematics content is sort of visible and effectively presented but it could have presented in a much clearer way. I would rate this a 3. For one, it talks about the numbers as people and doesn’t say directly that it is the numbers that are even and odd and not just the people. The other concepts of math that it speaks about aren’t either. When they talk about the children, x and y, range, and more, most students who were to read the book wouldn’t not have learned about these concepts yet and it would go right over their head. If students don’t know about these concepts they aren’t going to understand a lot of what the book is referring to. I would say this book is made for early elementary grades and they don’t talk about things such as range until way
