(500) Days of Summer A Film Analysis
(500) Days of Summer is an ongoing relationship between two people, Tom Hansen, and
Summer Finn. Summer, was a very fine looking women who always attracted the attention of all men, including Tom. For Tom, it was love at first sight when she walked into the greeting card company where he worked, she the new administrative assistant. Day after day Tom had realized
Summer was the one. On the other hand, Summer did not believe in relationships or boyfriends, in her assertion, real life will always ultimately get in the way. Tom and Summer began to be more than friends even after, “life always getting in the way”. Through the trials and tribulations of Tom and Summer 's socalled relationship, Tom could always count on the advice of his two best friends, McKenzie and Paul. Toms sister, Rachel is the voice of the reason; always bringing up reasons on why Tom and Summer should not be together. After all is said and done, Tom is the one who ultimately has to make the choice to listen or not. This film is not what it sounds like, it is indeed about love, but it is not a love story.
The Unified Synopsis of
(500) Days of Summer is presented in a nonchronological format, each scene being introduced by which of the 500 days it is. The plot as given here has been rearranged in chronological order. It is important to note cinematographically that the film opens with day 488, the scene where Tom and Summer are seated at a bench and the audience sees Summer 's ringed finger as the two hold hands.

Little Miss Sunshine was the feel good movie of the summer, opening on July 26, 2006. The minds behind the camera were Michael Arndt, who wrote the screenplay, and directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. The movie would not have come together if it had not been for the awesome cast that brought it all together, Abigail Breslin, Paul Dano, Steve Carell, Toni Collette, Greg Kinnear, and Alan Arkin. Not one of the 17 awards and nominations for the movie and cast could have happened if it had not been for Fox Searchlight Pictures and Big Beach production companies for believing in bringing the story to the big screen.…

The winter and the summer sessions are alter egos. The winter session is cold with death, war, and stress in it, while the summer session is full of friendliness and youth. “In the same way the war, beginning almost humorously with announcements about maids and days spent at apple-picking, commenced its invasion of the school. The early snow was commandeered as its advance guard.” (Knowles 84). “In another form, the individual soul is thought to consist of several parts, separate but linked…” (189).…

Unlike Daily Mail, for Summer Height’s High to use aesthetic features, it must also bear consideration for music and sound selection. Usually during each episode, sound appears when a character is presented. This repetitive strategy allows Lilley to portray a subject matter, without consuming significant time to present relevant information. Furthermore, by setting its characters against a real background of a school, viewers can be familiar with codes and conventions of the documentary, thus in the process requires technique such as satire, irony, parody and exaggeration to be effective. Tom’s mother is clearly the matriarch, however, Tom is the one who brings home the rent. This situation causes a sort of power struggle between Tom and his mother. Feeling trapped Tom continues at his dead end job at the warehouse. When Amanda tells Tom that he “might jeopardize his job” Tom responds by explaining how he would “rather somebody picked up a crow bar and battered out my brains (scene 3).” Tom hates his job and wants to write poetry but he is stuck providing for his family. This causes tensions to arise, as Tom is very dissatisfied with his life at this moment. Amanda also tells Tom to “overcome his selfishness” to help his sister even though Tom is paying the rent (scene 5). Amanda is a loving mother but she clearly puts the needs of Laura before then needs of anyone else in the family. Amanda also try’s to stop Tom from leaving by mentioning how he is leaving “an unmarried sister who’s crippled and has no job (scene 7).” This shows how his family relies on Tom due to the fact that his sister can get anything right. Daisy presents a false personality to others in hopes they will believe she is happy. When Nick mentions his and Daisy's hometown, she cries " How gorgeous! Let's go back, Tom, tomorrow!" "You ought to see the baby" (14). The way she exaggerates everything and bounces from one subject to the next exposes her phony attitude. Nick's recognizes Daisy and Tom's faults as he states, "They were careless people, Tom and Daisy -- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together" (188). Like Daisy, Tom only cares about himself. Tom's relationships demonstrate his careless with feelings.…
