I was never so scared, confused and worried in my life. What was going on in my life. She told me that there is a myth of a boy called Jerry and is a 12 year old ghost that hauls the cabins and cuts their wood. I was muddled, dazed about this. I was thinking to myself ,was he really a ghost. It was like a storm hit my head at that time I couldn't think straight at that moment. Based on a reportedly true story, Jay Anson’s, The Amityville Horror, took the nation by storm. It caught the eye of people mainly because of the subtitle it carried: “A True Story”. Jay Anson wrote this book based on George and Kathleen Lutzes’ claims “that they and their three small children felt threatened from strong supernatural forces while living at 112 Ocean Avenue” (Osuna). However, aside from the account of the Lutzes’ encounters with these forces, no actual facts prove that these events truly occurred. Therefore, many people became skeptical of the alleged true story of these happenings at the Lutzes’ home.…

Malala Yousafzai, an advocate for education for women in underdeveloped countries, once said, “The extremists are afraid of books and pens, the power of education frightens them. They are afraid of women.” (Claire). In the past, women had always been seen as the “weaker class”. A notion was present that women did not have the intellectual ability to learn and process information. Overtime, society has begun to generally accept that women are able to perform the same tasks as men, but this idea of acceptance did not occur overnight. It took many years, and massive feminist movements to unite society and display the great value of women. During the time period of various minority rights movements in the 1800’s, in “Enlightened Motherhood”, Frances…

I am writing about the indirect characterization of “mom” in The Three Century Woman by Richard Peck. “Mom” is the mother of the speaker. One example of indirect characterization is when she is talking to Aunt Gloria she is really chatty, also the speaker states that she is always on her phone. This shows us that she is talkative. The passage states that she and Aunt Gloria are bickering and in other instances they are arguing. This shows us she is opinionated. The speaker asks to stay in the car but mom refuses. This shows us that she is caring of her grandma making her daughter visit.…

I hated her though; Miss Moore, she was the only woman in the neighborhood that had only a “ Miss” and a “Moore” but no first name. She has cept for feets, which were fish white and spooky.
