Deborah has grown up in a patriarchal family where she was expected to be married and have children at a young age, run the household and look after the children on a day to day basis. As she was brought up in this way, Deborah feels that she has had to live up to the family expectations. Thus, Deborah has become disengaged from the workforce, and is unemployable as she has had very little experience in the workforce before she was married and become a parent, and does not have to skills to keep up with modernised workplaces. 3. Deborah was expected to be married and become a mother at a young age, and her family did not support any of her dreams or inspirations. Not only that, due to her being unemployed she has had to rely on income support from Centerlink to support her family, therefore these social institutions she has been involved in has impacted on her life drastically.
