Health- A child who has a healthy diet, lifestyle and enjoys playing outdoors is more likely to develop positively than a child whose diet is poor and does not undertake much physical activity. For instance, children with illnesses may not be able to play as actively and therefore may struggle to develop at the rate expected of a healthy child.
Physical- Children with physical disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy may be less able to take part in some physical activities which others in their class can. Physical activities may also be a struggle at home and due to these factors, their physical development may be impaired or slower than other children. This may then affect the childâ€TMs social and emotional skills as they may not be able to take part in as much as the other children. Social workers, teachers etc. will all closely monitor looked after or cared for children to ensure any issues are identified and resolved as quickly as possible to enable the child to progress to the best of their ability.
Prior Experiences or Education- Some children may not enter school with any previous education.
For instance some children may have moved fro another country and therefore have no previous experience in a school setting especially in a country different to where they came from. This therefore impacts on the child as it will take them time to adjust to the new setting and the way of learning. There are lots of instances of different situations of this kind which can affect the childâ€TMs development.
Social and Cultural Backgrounds- Due to the wide variety of cultural backgrounds and circumstances this must also be taken into consideration with regard to a childâ€TMs development. Social attitudes towards education depending on the childâ€TMs background can pass through onto the child and thus affecting their school life and development.
