A Dog’s Purpose, written by W. Bruce Cameron.
Throughout this story, there is one dog that travels throughout multiple lies, just to come back to one. There has been troubles, heartache, and lots of love as well. However, in every chapter of this magnificent novel, Cameron made it very apparent that every dog has a purpose that connects to a special someone.
As Cameron introduced Toby, he had already fulfilled a purpose. Toby was a caring dog and there was never a time when he wasn’t asking for warmth. Toby says,” Of any of the things I’d ever done, making Senora laugh seemed the most important. It was, I reflected, the only thing that gave my life any purpose.” (Cameron, 42) This quote was very important because many dogs are loving and their purpose was to always be there for who they loved because having love poured on them is what I meant the most.
As time went on, Toby dozed off for an irresistible nap, he was reborn as Bailey. Bailey was gifted with a young boy named Ethan. Ethan and Bailey had an unbreakable bond that would never fall apart.Bailey could not want anything more than to be with Ethan at all times. Bailey realizes this when Cameron says, “ It led me straight to the boy and loving and living with the boy was my whole life purpose… From the moment we woke up until the moment we went to sleep, we were together.” …show more content…
Ellie had been trained to find troubled people, however there is more to it than that. Cameron initializes this when Ellie says,” I realized that today I truly understood my purpose as Ellie: not just to Find them but to Save them.” (Cameron, 182) Ellie was willing to risk her life for others because “failure isn’t an option when success is just a measure of more action.” (Cameron, 210) From the day Ellie was born she was different, yet in a good way.
