Jem tries to teach Scout and guide her into the right direction. They do fight, but that just shows the two can not be broken apart because they are stuck together like glue. Scout can be sassy and tell anybody what she thinks. Jem tells her that he swears she is becoming more like a girl each day. I think the children grow closer and learn respect for each other, each day because as Scout gets older she begins to realize that Jem is just trying to help her. When Scout goes into a higher grade, she and Jem do not fight as much and she doesn't get very sassy with him. Jem clearly loves Scout with all his heart. He tells her what she needs to know and Jem doesn't want Scout to get hurt or scared. In chapter fourteen, (Lee, 185). Scout suspects a snake under her bed. Scout goes and ask Jem to come and see what is under her bed. Jem doesn't want Scout to get scared, so he is brave enough to see what it is that is worrying Scout, but don't worry it's just their friend Dill, hiding because he ran away from home. The children care for each other and Jem doesn't just try to be Scouts older brother, he tries his hardest to be her
