The scene it portrays shows a woman holding an infant while she stands on a chariot drawn by two lions. Surrounding her in the air and around her feet are sixteen angels or cherubs. In the background there is a horizon with foggy mountains and a lake. On the left and right of the picture there are two columns reminiscent of the Classical era and at the top of the painting there is curtains and berry garland, almost like the scene was staged in a theater.…

Resting Girl (Marie-Louise O’Murphy) (1751) by François Boucher, also called Reclining Girl or Blonde Odalisque, depicts 14-year-old Marie-Louise O’Murphy de Boisfaily in a sensuous pose. It is said the painting’s purpose may have been for Marie-Louise to offer herself as an odalisque, or mistress, to Louis XV of France and, although her true intent must be left to speculation, through this painting she was successful in becoming one of his many mistresses. Resting Girl, a work of oil on canvas, was painted during the Rococo Period (1715-1774). Quite indicative of Rococo, Resting Girl is more frivolous, light, and immoral than traditional Baroque’s already over-the-top style. Though Boucher shied away from using frontal nudity to illicit arousal, the eroticism of Resting Girl is still very apparent. Some critics observed the rear-facing pose of Marie-Louise as being even more sensual than some paintings containing frontal nudity.…

The poet carefully chose adjectives and nouns to give the poem many different meanings. In the first line of the first stanza he uses the noun ‘girl’, instead of ‘woman’, that could indicate that she is young and maybe has not had many ‘grown up experiences’. This links in with the adjective ‘smeared’, firstly as this girl is quite young she may have applied the lipstick badly having no understanding of how to do this task. Or the word could take on a more sinister and negative meaning, that she had perfect or well-done lipstick which has turned into a smear after her being sexually assaulted or raped. The poet describes her face being ‘stained by tears’, which shows she has been crying, or could suggest that the event has left a more permanent mark.…

On first look at the painting, we give our attention to the isolated woman in the middle of the work. The woman is the largest feature of the painting and is the focal point of all other elements found in the painting. The woman is portrayed as someone of great importance. The woman is clothed in a flowing white…
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) was passed in 1996 to safeguard medical information. Records previously were usually kept in file cabinets and were basically not protected. With the introduction of electronically transferring medical data, it became important to secure this information. HIPAA ensures how, when, where, and to whom this medical information can be distributed along with specific rules to follow.…
The form of the poem was written in free verse style. It consists of four stanzas and each stanza tells a different part of the girl’s life. The girl goes from life being simple, playing with toys and having friends to growing up, worrying about looks, what others think, and being judged. These pressures on a young girl growing into a woman can be extreme and change their whole life. The poem begins with the description of a normal child no different from any other child, “The girl was born as usual” (1). There is a transition in the first stanza lines five and six, where the girl goes from young and happy playing with Barbie’s to an adolescent girl being judged by society. The second stanza explains how no matter how perfect the girl is society makes her feel flawed. The third stanza shows how the girl is willing to…

The essence of the bird-in-the-hand theory of dividend policy (advanced by John Litner in 1962 and Myron Gordon in 1963) is that shareholders are risk-averse and prefer to receive dividend payments rather than future capital gains. Shareholders consider dividend payments to be more certain that future capital gains – thus a “bird in the hand is worth more than two in the bush”.…
