Analysis: The Generational Gap Of Grandparents
I lost them eons ago. I do not have that home now, but the smell of fresh Basil tea in any corner on this earth still takes me to their home - and I ride back in times.
I wrote several memoirs inked in red to show my indebtedness to God for giving me those wonderful human beings – my grandparents.
Today, when my bouquet of joy sings soulful symphony of ‘Nani’, I can not thank enough the benignity of God!
"Surely, two of the most satisfying experiences in life must be those of being a grandchild or a grandparent” is as true as quoted by Donald A. Norberg.
The second Sunday of September is observed as Grandparents day. This year, it falls on September13.
This month was chosen to signify the “autumn” of their life. The flower named ‘forget-me-not’ that

Generational Gap of Grandparents: There is a big difference in the lives of two sets of grandparents.
The Boomers II or Generation Jones (Born: 1955-1965), grandparents lead an active life even post retirement. Their engagement with many activities leaves them with less time as compared to earlier generation grandparents.
Being social media savvy, they constantly explore areas of self- development and build a plethora of knowledge pool and hence can enhance grandchildren’s overall growth.
From giving them strength of information to advocating for their future besides over the top affection and spoiling little angels in abundance; and from raising their fun quotient to taking them to educational trips, to encouraging and even experiencing with them things they never did before.
It is contrary to what Post-War Cohorts (Born: 1928-1945) life was like. They were mostly home oriented after retirement. They had all the time for their grandchildren and gladly invested all their time and energy with these playful living toys.

“Culture is the sum of all the forms of art, of love, and of thought, which, in the coarse or centuries, have enabled man to be less enslaved” (A. Malraux). There are many different cultures in the world but the Indian culture is a unique one. The Indian culture has been influenced by a history that is many millennia’s old, and still has a big influence on the world with over 1.2 billion followers who don’t just reside in India; but all over Earth itself. The short story, Ramu and Rani, is a cultural story from India and was written by Iqbal Ahmad. In this story, a soon to be married man learns about the tale of Ramu and Rani; two lovers and they’re struggle to be together because of culture. The short story, Ramu and Rani, written by Iqbal Ahmad, is a typical Indian culture story compared to Geert Hofstede’s cultural dimensions model. Linda Hogan’s poem “Heritage” is an insight into all the things the speaker feels they inherited from their family. As I was reading “Heritage”, I was thinking about my family and everything I inherited from them. This poem made me think not just about the concrete things I inherited like hair color, but also the behaviors and emotions I learned from growing up with family. This poem talks about how the speaker inherited certain traits from his parents, uncle, and grandparents. This made me think of all the things I inherited and learned from all parts of my family.…

The journal entry that I chose to write about is based on the article “Weighing the Grandma Factor; In Some Societies, It's a Matter of Life and Death” written by Natalie Angier. I chose this journal entry in particular because it brought memories that I enjoyed to the forefront that I haven’t thought about in a while. This article also discussed the impact grandmothers have and unique role they play in our lives, from birth to the transition off of breast milk and beyond. Through reading this article I gained some new insight into myself and the impact that my own Grandmother had on me. Also, through keeping a journal and reflecting on these readings provided in my English class I have discovered and unveiled distant memories once locked away…

Almost exactly 9 months after World War II ended, there was a greatly elevated birth rate in the United States. This generation of "baby boomers" was the result of a strong post war economy, in which Americans felt confident that they would be able to support a larger number of children. Many people in the postwar era looked forward to having children because they were hopeful that the future would be one of comfort and prosperity. This was especially true because of the recent events of World War I, The Great Depression and World War II. As a result, many Americans felt certain that they could give their families better opportunities that they had not had before. The baby boom was a significant event in American history because it sparked…

The Baby Boomers are the generation of Americans born between 1946 and 1964. They make up an enormous portion of the world’s population having a vast impact on today’s economy. The name Baby Boomers came from the aftermath of World War 2 when birth rates across the worlds reached their peaks with around 77 million baby births in just the united states alone, making up over 40% of the American population (Investopedia). The baby boomer lifestyle people believe came from a million of different factors: people wanting to start families, people wanting to marry at a younger age, and a sense that the new coming era would be safe. (Investopedia). The Boomers have been known to be the longest-living generation being the “generation of change.” Woman started to join the workforce and took over the man’s place on the job, marriages began to decrease while divorces began to increase. The young teens in between 20 and 24 increased majorly with their drug use and crimes. The baby boomers were the first generation with significant spending power (Macunovich, Baby Boomers). After 16 years of war and depression, World War II ended in 1945, and more babies were born between 1946 and 1964 (78 million) than ever before and never since, which gave way to the name “baby booms”. The first stage of the boom occurred during 1945-1950, and the second was from mid 1950-1964. Financial advantages turned out to be plentiful after the war; and this generation of baby boomers became known as the “Me Generation” (Gigante, 2010).…

I flipped the page of the photo album. There I was, grinning happily at my grandma. In another picture, my grandpa was feeding me. Why couldn't I remember? When I was just a few months old, I was sent to live with my grandparents. They raised me for about two years, and then I went back to America to my parents. In my opinion, infancy is the most difficult stage in the process of raising a child. Loud shrieks, diaper changing and wailing in the middle of the night- it doesn't sound very appealing does it? My grandparents dealt with all of it, and I can’t thank them because I can’t remember any of it.…
