During the montage we see the couple get married, fix up their house, trying and failing to have a baby, and picnicking on a hill. They still dream of going to paradise falls in South America. Carl and Ellie start saving all their change and extra money in a jar. However, life always seemed to get in the way though. Smashing the jar and extracting money was often the result. The rest of this movie is filled with excitement and adventure as Russell and Mr. Fredrickson adventure through South America enduring obstacles and trials. One example of the message, “it is the relationships we share with others that makes life meaningful” conveyed in the movie is the relationship between Carl and Ellie. During the montage in the movie it clearly showed Carl and Ellie taking advantage of life. This showed when they cleaned the house together. When Ellie was sick Carl was always there to take care of her needs. After Ellie passed away you could still see how meaningful their relationship was as Carl often talks out loud to Ellie like she is present.
