The chorus was a group of actors who described and commented upon the main action of a play with song, dance, and recitation. The chorus usually consisted of 50 men but some plays changed the size, even down to 12 men. The chorus performed by singing, dancing, narrating, and acting. They usually would sing but rarely they would talk too. The chorus would perform in the orchestra.
There were lots of different styles, there was both tragedies and comedies.

Even prisoners were released just to watch the shows. The crowd was usually full with 14,000-15,000 people. Plays were done in both the daylight and evening, but, they were mainly done in the daylight. As they didn’t have microphones they theatres (amphitheaters) were built in such a way that even the smallest sounds were heard by everyone in the theatre.

The Auguste clown is the most comedic of all clowns. His actions are wilder than the other clowns. He is often the troublemaker.
The Auguste, usually wears pink, red, or tan rather than white coloured makeup. The features are exaggerated in size and are typically red and black. The mouth is thickly outlined.
This costume consisted of baggy pants, a knit-neck type shirt or one with a very large or very small collar (sometimes he wore a bib or shirt front that curled up), and large, loud colored shoes. He seldom wore a coat, but when he did, it was always way too big or too small.
