Anesthesiologist Application Essay

Working in the medical field has been top on my list. Anesthesiologist was one option that crossed my mind. I didn't know much about it and wanted to learn more. My non-negotiables are working with my hands, working inside, having a little break time, days off, and good pay. What appeals to me is that it is in the medical career. I also like that it deals with medicine and to make people feel superior and you can make their lives more enjoyable than living in pain. Anesthesiologists provide you with the medicine you need for a procedure or for the recovery of the procedure. Patient care is not very long. According to Sacks from Careers in Medicine he states, “Patient contact is limited to pre- and post surgery visits, which is to describe
the procedure and tell them what is going to happen.” The daily duties are to regulate heart, blood pressure and breathing. They regulate the heart by having you put on a heart monitor. Breathing can be regulated by oxygen or with a monitor also. Another important part is which choice of drugs to use depending on the patient. Many people are allergic or can't have a certain drug, which then affects the plan of treatment. The challenges that are faced would be drug shortages and giving the right dose of drugs. With this being said if you give to little it can cause the patient to feel pain but given too much can cause them to not wake up. As the years go on this job is becoming more necessary because people are needing surgeries or have pain they need to manage. In the next decade anesthesiologists positions are going to rise 10-20%. The way you treat someone can make their day better or worse.
You need to have a positive attitude towards someone even if you're having a bad day. Some of the skills that are taken into consideration are to communicate well, be able to read charts, solving problems that aren't always easy, diagnosing diseases and disorders and giving health care instructions. I believe I am suited for this job because I am good at solving problems, hard worker that can solve problems, and can give instructions on how to do tasks. Schooling is a very important concept. To become an anesthesiologist you need to go have 4 years of medical school. Then you need your bachelor's degree, which takes 4 years. Then residency for three years and one year of internship which you don't get paid for. A few of the top schools for anesthesiology are John Hopkins School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School. (Start Class by Graphiq). Remuneration is different depending on where you are ranked. The higher up or the longer you have been an anesthesiologist the income is more. For people who have just got the job or have had it only for a little amount of time the average income is about $99,655. The median pay is about $245,658. Capital) This career most interests me because i've always wanted to help people and care for them since I was a little girl and the medical field would help me pursue it. I would like to stay in Wisconsin and there are many hospitals in Wisconsin that have anesthesiologists. Even though they're new technology coming out robots can't always do things humans do which will keep people in the medical field employed.
