Would you like to put people to sleep for a living? I do! When I get older I want to be an anesthesiologist, which is a medical doctor who keeps a patient comfortable, safe, and pain-free during surgery by a drug called anesthetics. I have different reasons why I chose this job, what I have to do to get this job, and some cons and pros about this job. This job is very time consuming but it is all worth it at the end.
When I was younger, I would always tell myself that I want to be a pediatrician because I loved dealing with babies. Little did I know you have to work with them from newborn to 18 years of age. As I thought about it I didn't want to work with kids all ages. I changed my profession in the 9th grade into and obstetrician/gynecologist. I just wanted to birth babies but you can't just be a doctor that births babies you have to also have to be a womans doctor first and I didn't want to do that. A con in this work is being any type of doctor you have to be in college for at least 8 years and you have to do residency work and internships which is an additional 4 years. You won't start your career until you are at least 30 years old. Also, if you put too much anesthesia in a person's body they can sue you. You have to be very careful when it comes to putting patients to sleep. A pro in this work is once your career gets started you won't have to worry about money. You are highly paid. The salary is roughly 246,000 dollars.
