In May of 2015 the latest Gallup poll readings stated that 62% of Americans think animals should have some basic protection but still be able to be used for the benefit of humans; in retrospect, 32% of people thought animals should have the same rights as people, while 3% didn’t think animals needed any protection at all. With numbers like these an organization called the Animal Legal Defense Fund has written up a bill that calls for protection of the rights of animals, but is this really necessary? My opinion falls into the 62% category, as I think the way animals are treated now is poor and having some sort of bill to help free some of the abused
