Obesity
Topic:
I have chosen the topic, obesity. “Obesity has been defined as the excessive accumulation of body fat occurring in children and people being more than 10 pounds over the weight for their height and body type” (The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, 2011). I chose obesity because it has taken over a lot of our young children. Obesity in young children has become a big issue because children are not getting the proper nutrition they need. Parents, schools, and doctors have to be educated and prepared to help in ways which teach obesity to our children. Obesity has effected children physically and socially. I will focus on the causes of obesity in young children, most are in fact preventable.

This article describes information from the Weight of the Nation 2012 Schools Track. It includes 16 presentations about obesity. They shared key information on preventing obesity in schools. It provides information at the Weight of Nation that help school practitioner access tools and strategies for obesity. It describes how children become obese and what parents should not give the children to eat. Children become obese through fast foods and junk food. There has been changes brought about schools, daycare facilities, and gym classes for children. The numbers has increased because there are so many children that are not physical active and are sitting home eating and playing games. There need to be a lot of physical exercising going on. Physical exercises need to be involved in children lives. The WIC program provide very healthy foods for children and the SNAP program are designed for parents to purchase healthy food for children to eat on a daily
