Anti Anxiety Pill Persuasive Essay
Pretend this, is a prescribed anti-anxiety pill, a pill that makes you feel better. Wrong. This is a way in which society “fixes” you in another repaired citizen. Instead of changing the owner of this pill’s environment, to help him/her feel assured, they give a magical little thing that is clinically designed to alter your brain, and it’s functions.

Social Anxiety Disorders (SAD), have to be helped without the use of medication. These drugs tug and pull at your brain and body’s ability to comprehend situations and emotions. Because it progresses into something worse.

These pills, or ‘tranquilizers’ as most call them, damages the body’s physical and mental state. We even call them this name, and yet over 40 million adults (who are 18 and older), are affected by this phobia, and use these pills. Do they work? Sometimes, but over time, the dosages of these pills cause a huge impact on your liver and may cause various types of liver diseases such as Cirrhosis, which is the scarring in the liver tissue, and Ulcers. Not only that, over 70 percent of people in the United States alone are diagnosed with SAD or depression. So what’s the solution? Instead of changing their bodies, how about the environment they live in.

We, as a whole, need to realize it’s perfectly normal for people take these drugs without any discrimination, because discrimination made them use these in the first place. The too many that use these usually were diagnosed at a young age, when the body is still growing to it’s full potential, along with the brain. Too many also suffer from these pills after effects. For example, the pill implies drowsiness, and it’s goal is to slow down the Central Nervous System (which controls most of your body and

The Happiness Myth: Drugs, by Jennifer Hecht discusses the misceptions about drugs in society. Throughout history there have always been happiness drugs, though our public for the most part has been morally against them. Today, legal happiness drugs are often labeled things such as antidepressants, numbing agents, soporifics, or stimulants, which tells one a lot about what society thinks about them. On the other hand, the drugs considered illegal today were, at various times, once used as much as we use caffeine today. Which is odd since some of the drugs in markets are a lot stronger than they used to be.…

The journal briefly touched on multiple types of anxiety, the first being Generalized Anxiety Disorder. They gave an example story, more or less talking about a young girl having anxiety that would build at the pace of a snowball rolling down a hill. They put 22 children and young adults (ages 5-17) on a drug called Sertraline. Sertraline was found to be superior to a placebo for reducing anxiety symptoms, but they did not…

People ask why would someone do that? It is not worth the harm caused to the body, or even the end of a life. What people don’t understand is that sometimes people can be in such bad state of unhappiness, or depression that the only way to solve the problem is by taking these antidepressants. As in Brave New World, soma is used as a stimulant to result in an extreme amount of happiness in a very short amount of time. Just as antidepressants are used in today’s society. The people who take these drugs may be using it for depression, or other conditions such as anxiety or shyness. They can even be taken by people who are 100% healthy to make them feel better about themselves. Some may argue that these pills aren’t truly making one “jovial”, that the drug being used is really just covering up their unhappiness but putting them in a slightly better mood. “People can also drown their sorrows in alcohol or get a euphoric feeling using narcotics, but few people who do would be called truly happy.” (NYTimes) I would never personally recommend that someone takes antidepressants to make them happy. However, I believe that if someone is truly unhappy, that to fix it with other methods such as therapy would take years, maybe even months. That’s a waste of a lifetime. Years and months that could go by with not the slightest bit of happiness, when at the pop of a lid, and a sip of water happiness could be achieved in minutes. If a person is putting the pills in their mouth, they must likely know the precautions that will come with. Their happiness is worth it though. Soma is used to “subdue all malice and bad tempers” just as modern society uses antidepressants. Nowadays, millions of people are being prescribed antidepressants to “get rid of unhappiness.” Of course, this along with cliff diving, can result in a shorter life; however, it's more than worth the risk.…

It’s not only the doctors who excessively prescribe, but it’s also individuals looking for the “magic pill” and pharmaceutical companies who promote the non-existent magic pill. “America has become such an industrialized, materialistic society that we think that a product sold by a company is the answer to human suffering” (Cooper). This is true, we see in the movie Prozac Nation when dozens of people are hurrying to the pharmacy and also in people Like Tess and Rita who take Prozac to just make them handle life’s difficult situations a little better; even though they are not “clinical depressed”. Prozac changes the whole dynamic of individuals and the search for this magic pill just alters their perception leading to a lack of…

Prescription drug use among high schoolers, specifically in Southern California, although beneficial at times, are being abused in some cases for the euphoric feelings they create in an individual. The parents of these students are taking notice, but have not had much interference with the abuse of these drugs among their children. Prescription drugs are a great benefit to those with hereditary disorders such as ADD and ADHD in the way that they help regulate the detrimental effects of the disorder and often suppress the disorder entirely, leading to a normal happy life. However, some prescription drugs, mostly painkillers and amphetamines, become subjected to abuse and overuse for the purpose of “escape” from reality and experience sentiments…

It seems so, because, people know that cancer is a disease that has been studied and researched for many while drug addiction has not. Individuals who abuse drugs are affected by physiological changes that occur in the brain, unfortunately these changes lead to addiction and should be treated as the disease it is and not as if it is a choice.…
