been instructed to assume that anything approved by the Food and Drug Administration is to ‘protect and promote your health’, when in true nature, they almost have no control over what is publicized and said about a prescription drug that could potentially have severe risks such as withdrawal effects and even death. (“Prescription Drug Advertising) Though, there are guidelines of what needs to be said about a drug, there are also loopholes just about anyone can cross; one of them being the word usage and the ability to use hard medical terminology that the general public cannot comprehend. The audience will only digest the attractive keywords given, and instantly come to the conclusion that their ‘symptoms’ may be an actual problem.
(“Prescription Drug Advertising) In a frequently asked questions column by the FDA, it was stated that the “federal law does not allow the FDA to require that drug companies submit ads for approval before the ads are used.” (“Prescription Drug Advertising) Therefore, a company with only motives of attracting your consummation of their supply will put forth tactics in order for you to make the assumption that this is the ‘right’ thing for you, without no review board telling them not to.

gain. Not only are the ads manipulative to the consumers, but also the doctors that are giving them to their patients.
