I love that name. It was not a coincidence you were given that call sign. No one in the National Guard knew your story when you were dubbed Black Magic, and yet it is completely appropriate. Black Magic is an artillery term that turns out to be a mirror of your philosophy thus far: Firing at a given target and making data adjustments from the observed round. Seems like a good plan, until you remember that it is supposed to be an emergency tactic and not the first course of action. Having a well thought out plan is a simple concept that you know all too well, yet you have never applied it to your life. Benjamin Franklin said, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” I will begin by stating that it is alright to not have all the answers. …show more content…
You are allowing your insecurity to belittle your intelligence. Education does not equate to intellect. Some may argue that you over analyze, but I encourage you to indulge in your observations. Your education, so far, is derived through personal experiences immersed within several cultures. You have trouble articulating your thoughts and ideas, there is nothing wrong with that, but you must work on developing that skill every day. Slow down and be still in your thought until it is fully formed. You must write more, even if all you write are your thoughts. Take your ideas more seriously. You are in college to learn how to slow down your mind and focus. Your real life experiences have put you in a perfect position to evaluate all with your unique perspective. You’re easily distracted and that will change as you find and explore your new joy of learning. Celebrate your decision to attend class instead of going to work and continue to enjoy each little victory. Do not neglect your education any further. Let everything else work out in due time. Your schooling will enable you to communicate your ideas better. Leave the days of half thought out plans …show more content…
No matter how much you want to keep them in it. Their presence is only to teach and guide you. Your mentality has changed and you are growing every day. Others will be forced to grow with you or watch from the sidelines as you continue on your journey. It is your life to live as you see fit. No one has the right to pass judgement on how you conduct yourself. You know yourself and what is important to you. These ideals and expectations are just a coping mechanism people use to give value to themselves. You have your own. Continue to take it one day at a time. Learn each day something you didn’t know before. Success and money is not what will make you feel fulfilled, and I cannot tell you what will help you achieve such a

As a student, grades are very important to me. I have never failed a class, and I always strive to earn an A. I always try to do my best. In all honesty, I don’t like school much. My favorite class so far this year has to be either French or ACT. A few of my academic strengths are that I’m a great listener, I don’t like to waste time when I could be getting work done, and I check my work a lot to make sure it is correct or near correct. My academic weaknesses are that I won’t ask questions if I need help and most of the time the topics don’t interest me. I like figuring problems out on my own because I learn better that way, but it can be a bad thing if I really don’t understand the problem at all. In those cases, I don’t know where to start fixing my problem.…

I was 18 years old when I first enrolled to Modesto Junior College with over- self confidence and energy. In the beginning of the semester , I attended the classes and took notes , however since high school I was able to pass my class with As and Bs without really working hard , I assumed college will be the same. After paying international tuition and 16 units , I decided that I will go to class when I felt like it. In the middle of the semester, I was barely getting low Cs in the class and failing most of my class. I had a really bad fixed mindset because I did not want to look like I am not smart or intelligent anymore…

During my 10th grade year, my grades slowly starting lowering. My grade in my Geometry AP class, i couldnt even wrap my fingers around the things we were learning. Heres something you should know about me, im not a audio learning. Im more on a visual learner, and a hands on learner. I attended tutorials but it wasnt increasing my grade in that class. As i get my mind focused on college, I have this mind set that I will get there by doing good in my future studies. A famous motivational speaker once stated that it's hard to see the picture when you're in the frame. It's much easier to see the whole picture from the outside. Because you're unable to get on the outside of your own life, consider getting a mentor who is wise, understands where you're trying to go, and has your best interest at heart. The thinking you have right now is the thinking that got you…

Attention Getter: I would like to start my presentation off by telling you all to ask yourselves a series of fairly straight forward questions. I want you to take a look at you’re, any hand and ask your selves “Who’s hand is this?” Do the same with your other hand, and now both legs and your arms if you would like. If I am not mistaking the answer to all your questions are mine right. They are your hands, legs, and arms. What I am trying to get through to you all today is that your body is your body and that a person should be able to profit of his or her own body if done in a safe and controlled way.…

Before entering college, I was terrified. I often thought that what I learned in high school was not enough for me to succeed at a university. I viewed my writing skills and just my general course knowledge, as inadequate. While this hindered me at first, after experiencing my first semester in college, I believe that I have grown tremendously, not just academically, but socially as well. Being at such a diverse school has made me a lot more comfortable and openminded about conversing or even befriending those with different beliefs than mine. Though I have made growth over this semester, there are still areas that I need to improve on. Throughout the first semester, I noticed that I still am not confident in my work and that I tend to float by, settling for mediocre grades. While my grades have made a great improvement from high school, I know that I can do a lot better and that I should be putting in more effort in my school work. After my first semester at UNCG, I have improved in a lot of areas, and in the ones, that I still struggle in, I am in the process of growing and improving in those areas, but overall, my first semester has allowed me to learn a lot, not just about myself, but about the community that I am living in as well.…

I think every person in unique in their own way and when I think about my uniqueness, the thing which stands out in my mind is my critical thinking. Throughout my four years in high school, I have understood that it is better to know how to learn than to just know. Thus it has made me think wider and outside of the box instead of the things that are in front of my eyes. I have been developing this skill by learning new things each day in all my classes especially in AP Literature. As this class is completely based on analyzing prose and poems, I use my critical thinking to write essays and narratives. I do believe that I will achieve a college degree because I have learned the art of thinking and analysing new things as well as how to solve…

Looking at our world these days and watching the news all you see is where a new mass shooting happened and how many people died, a new terrorist attack, or something about animals. #BlackLivesMatter and all of these racial issues going around the US. We are always hearing about all of the bad things in the world and how terrible our world is becoming. We are concerned with letting these refugees in the United States because they are “probably terrorists” and everyone is so scared. Look at where these people are coming from and what they are giving up to come to a better place where they are trying to get away from extremists that will kill them if they don’t say the right thing. They come to the “land of the free and home of the brave”. That’s…
