Students and staff members alike. That boy’s name was Nikolas Cruz. He was 19. He was a trouble kid. An orphan. No parents, no real family outside of his one brother. But NONE of that could ever give him the right or the excuse to shoot up a school and kill children. One of the articles I read stated that Cruz pulled the fire alarm in the school so that students would come flooded into his line of fire. Only fucking maniacs say bullshit like that. There were a few videos of students recording what it was like inside those classrooms. The tears, the screaming, students rocking back and forth with their heads between their knees and it just, hurts. That could be anyone. That right now if someone came into our school and started shooting that they wouldn’t be prepared. That they wouldn’t know what to do, or what to text their parents. Cause what are they supposed to say, “Hi Mom, how’s your morning going? Mine kinda sucks, cause there’s a manic with an AR-15 shooting my classmates and teachers. But it’s okay. It happens.” NO. This shouldn’t be something that these kids should have to think about. It’s beyond horrifying when you think about how unsafe this school is. How exposed we are. How one person could just go out and buy a deadly weapon and walk in a school and start spraying bullets among the masses. This is 2018. You’d think that the wars with screaming and death and the smell of gunpowder ingrained into everything would be a thing of the past. Something that kids of this generation wouldn’t have to fear, that we wouldn’t have to be our parents and be scared of every second of lives. That we wouldn’t have to fear the lurking World War III, with a mad man in control of the country’s nuclear missiles, and idiots “controlling” him.
