Argumentative Essay: Are Videogames A Sport?
I have gathered you all here to talk about the fact that people who play videogames are not athletes. You have all seen and heard people saying “oh they are winning money and competing they must be an athlete right?” You have all hear the stupid excuse that “Oh they are physically engaging with their hands so that must be a sport.” I'm here to tell you all that this is indeed incorrect.

As said by Matt Kasten “Sports are inherently physical, and the athletes participating must be physically involved. When artificial intelligence can trounce a human player by eliminating the lone physical aspect of gaming (i.e. moving the player’s thumbs and forefingers), it has lost its validity as a sport.” Sports will always be defined as a physical action not sitting at a computer desk and moving one hand and a few fingers, even if doing so is branded as a sport it has lost all validity for other sports.
