Argumentative Essay: Charter Schools Vs Public Schools

I believe although students who are not academically good in traditional public schools, charter schools would be no different for them because researchers have found that Charter schools. Charter Schools often operate different than traditional public schools because although they are public and tuition-free as well, they are run by small companies, parents, community groups, and non-profit the Board of Education do not have a say on what they should or shouldn’t do. Charter schools have been known to be a better option than Public schools but it is not necessarily true because they have many more disadvantages than public schools in my opinion. Teachers are responsible for their own education programs and teaching methods unlike public school teachers who follow a curriculum and all the students in that grade are all on the same level. Low-income students may not be eligible because parents may not have the flexibility to drive kids across the city everyday and these schools do not provide bussing. Special education is another important factor because they do not offer education for children with disabilities unlike public school, which the government offers many programs such as related service, that include counseling, speech therapy, and physical and occupational therapy. “Charter Schools have the highest academic standards” this is a myth because according to the “National Assessment of Educational Progress” results shows that on average, the student performance at charter schools is fairly similar to the performance at traditional public schools or it may be even worse.
