Argumentative Essay On Ghost
The definition of a ghost is “a disembodied spirit imagined” (“dictionary.com, year”). To some people, this word is a joke. For others, it is a normal part of life. About 50% of people believe in ghosts, and 37% in haunted houses. This might be why ghost hunting shows are such a hit. There are shows such as “Ghost Adventures” and “Ghost Hunters”, which are now in their 8th and 13th season. Now more people are conducting their own experiments and trying to communicate with the dead (Radford, 2014). I believe that Aafter reviewing the evidence, there is enough evidence to confirm the existence of ghosts.
Ghosts have been detected in many different ways. They have been spotted as waves of mist, orbs of light, and muffled voices. People have reported

Others use high-tech devices such as electromagnetic field detectors and infrared cameras, which can pick up on the ghost’s electromagnetic field. Some ghost hunters use sensitive voice recorders to capture the voice of ghosts, also called electronic voice phenomena (EVP). They usually ask a question in the middle of a room, and remain quiet for a response (Radford, 2011). More recent studies by ghost hunters reveal very disturbing recordings, such as men speaking directly to women, and the sounds of doors mysteriously slamming shut (Ghost Adventures, 2009). This shows that this can’t be coincidence, equipment malfunctions, or wind blowing …show more content…

To clarify what's out there to be investigated, Southall begins the handbook in earnest by defining the terms, since ghosts, spirits and poltergeists are not interchangeable and represent quite different phenomena.Ghosts and apparitions are a kind a recording on the environment - a residual energy that can come from a person, animal or even an inanimate object. We can experience these lingering energies by sight, sound, smell and touch. Spirits are what people most often think of as "ghosts." A spirit is the "actual sentient presence, or soul, of an individual or individuals who have remained in the material world after his or her physical body has died." Southall continues by describing different types of spirits and the reasons they may have stayed behind.…

Pictured on the back cover of the comic book "Ghost World," by Daniel Clowes, are the two main characters of the book in full color. This strikingly significant image, surely shrugged off by most Clowes' readers, represents worlds of diversity within the frames of the book. Sporting pink spandex pants underneath her goldfinch yellow skirt and a blue t-shirt to match perfectly, Enid seems to live her life outside the bubble. She's a very dynamic girl, especially interested in her surroundings and people around her. On the other hand, Becky is dressed like a "typical" girl, with a long black skirt and a white blouse, thus representing her conforming presence in the world. Becky is much more passive than Enid, going with the flow of things just living life. The contrasting personalities of Enid and Becky come ironically, being best friends. However, it brings out their defining qualities in the comic book while quietly calling attention to the values of life, what is real and what is not.…

    The Bingham Light

My mom and stepdad took my brother and I and some other family members down to the woods one night, as we all wanted to see the infamous Bingham light. It seemed like we walked forever in the woods until we came upon a clearing in the middle of the woods. It was only about a mile though, where we had to stand and shout out John Bingham’s name until the light appeared. As we were shouting out his name, low and behold a light in the distance appeared. It was far off but you could continuously see it moving closer and closer to us. The temperature changed. It didn’t get hotter but cooler. It was very scary to be in the middle of the woods to start off with, then to see this light coming toward us even after we stopped calling his name was terrifying. We didn’t stand around for it to get to close to us. We all started running as fast as we could out of those woods. There was loud screaming coming from all of us. I remember crying and hanging on to my mom for dear life. When we got out of the woods we looked back and the light was gone. We then began to laugh. No one can say if there really is a ghost out there in those woods or if we let our imagination get the best of us. It could even be someone else playing…

The content of the ghost story can be rationally trusted to have happened to a point, while considering possible causes for some of the events. Since the story was told from one person’s memory of the event it brings up the question of what may have been forgotten or misremembered. One thing to consider is the primary source and whether it can be trusted. The primary source was a well-educated individual with a background in teaching, which adds credibility to his words. We also have to consider the background given during the story, for one thing he was a high school student at the time. That adds the factor of time to the equation, it had been years since it happened when the story was recalled. Another factor is the primary source stated, him and friends were not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, but excitement and fear.…

To understand these claims the brain is often studied. Researchers have found that our brains “have the tendency to look at patterns and see them as deliberate” (Wen). In simpler terms our brains look for patterns and associate them to causation, instead of looking for outside explanations. “’People assume that if they can't explain something in natural terms, then it must be something paranormal’” (Wen). When there is no analytical explanation for an experience tendencies fall towards paranormal. Science is on a constant continuum of improvement and new findings, maybe someday there will be an all-inclusive finding about the truth behind ghosts and other paranormal phenomena.…

There is a strong relation, throughout history, between religion as a belief, and the idea of ghosts as a part of this belief. Some ethnic groups believe in spirits and they do some religious rituals as a way of getting closer to the souls of the ancestors and satisfying them. Native American believes in reincarnation of their ancestor's souls. Also, Tlingit ethnic groups in Alaska and other ethnic groups in Australia and Africa believe in reincarnation. This relates to our subject through the idea of transportation of spirit, as invisible thing, to another creature or inanimate being and they can contact with them through some rites. The faith of hidden forces, believing in the supernatural, reincarnation, soul restriction, soul liberty or…
