Argumentative Essay On September 11th
Controversial topics are always going to be a thing no matter where you live. Whether the issue be about something minor like who is the better sports team or something major like did someone commit a murder. The controversial topic that I chose goes back to September 11th. There always has been the issue as to whether it was an inside job. The article that I read was on Express and was written by Jon Austin. In this article at the top of the page there is a three-minute video that talks about some of the people who were there. The video goes on to interview some firefighters, police officers and soldiers. One police officer goes on to say that in the commission report they left out an entire building he then compares it to a car crash saying that if

they were to leave out a car in a car crash their boss would jump on them. The article then goes on to talk about how could two planes bring down high towers in a matter of hours when they should theoretically take days for that to happen. The article also talks about the mysterious collapse of building seven. I think that the issue presented in this article is one of fact. On one side of the spectrum you have people who think that 9/11 was an inside job, which they think that is a fact. On the other side, you have people who think that terrorists did 9/11 and they think that is a fact. The issue in this article is whether 9/11 was an inside job. One big topic is how could the twin towers come down so fast if two planes hit it. Their argument is that the government must have planted C4 or some other kind of bomb on the world trade center to bring it down so fast.
They also argue about building seven, which is the third building that had collapsed after the two sky scrapers had fallen.
Throughout the article and the video the writer stays with the issue saying that 9/11 was an inside job. He has multiple quotes which take up a lot of the article from people saying things that make you think. This article was formatted very well. However, it did not influence me as a reader at all. The writer made some very good points. Until reading this article I had no idea that there were three buildings that fell on September 11th. I do find it a little suspicious that in the report the completely left out building seven. I can see where conspiracy theorists are coming from though. They always bring up building seven and say that there is no way that a plane could bring down an entire skyscraper so quick. They also say that the events of September 11th were just an excuse to go to war. So, the article has impacted me by making me think a little more about the events that happened on that day, but not enough to change my mind. I guess I might be a little naïve but I just do not think that the government whose job is to protect us would do such a horrible thing and kill so many
people. My views are at odds with those presented. In the article Jon gave some good quotes that make you think as a reader. What the people in this article are accusing the government of I just don’t believe could happen. If it was an inside job I think that there would have to be stronger evidence by now.
